Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi revolve around the life of the ‘Madam of Kamathipura’, Gangubai Kothewali. According to Hussain Zaidi's book Queens of Mumbai, Gangubai Kothewali was a powerful matriarch of Kamathipura in Mumbai during the time period of 60s. She used to own a brothel who reportedl had connection with the underworld. She even peddled drugs and gave orders for murders.
