Fitoor is a story of a stable boy Noor who starts to fall in love with the daughter of the Begum, Firdaus, who hired him. The story is set in the beautiful backdrop of Kashmir. Noor belongs to a poor family. Noor then 13 years old become deeply infatuated by Firdaus. Begum Hazrat, the mother of Firdaus, gets furious over this and disapproves of their love. It is also revealed that Hazrat in her youth was left heartbroken by her lover. Despite her mother's disapproval, Firdaus and Noor grow closer. Seeing this, Hazrat sends Firdaus to schooling in abroad and insults Noor as she tells him this news.
Years later, Noor moves to Delhi through an art scholarship. There he meets Firdaus who by then was engaged to a Pakistani diplomat, Bilal. But Noor's feeling didn't change all these years so they begin a relationship. Hazrat again disapproves of their relationship and orders Firdaus to marry Bilal against Firdaus's will. In a flashback, it is shown that Hazrat's lover Mufti leaves her pregnant and runs away with all her jewels. That is the reason for Hazrat to insist Firdaus in let go of love and to marry Bilal. Later, Noor finds out that Hazrat was playing him all along with the scholarship. An enraged Noor confronts Hazrat. Will brings along is a series of twists in the story. Fitoor was a huge disappointment at the box office. The movie received mostly mixed to negative reviews. However, critics praised the performances of Tabu and Aditi Rao Hydari. Made on a huge budget of 70 crores, Fitoor managed to pull only 19.28 crores at the box office.
