Varun, Raju, and Bujji are brothers living in the US. Elder brother Raju's marriage is set with Renuka of Banswada. varun and Bujji come to India to attend the wedding. Renuka has a sister named Bhanumathi.
here he meets Bhanumathi is a beautiful and naughty girl who doesn't want to feel secondary to anyone. Gradually Varun and Bhanu develop feelings for each other but don't express it. Bhanu loves her father very much and doesn't believe in leaving him after her marriage.
One day, she overhears Varun talking to his cousin Shailu about the opportunities in the US compared to India which he deems unfit for settling. Unfortunately, his reference to a marriage between Shailu and her boyfriend is misconstrued by Bhanu as being between Varun and Shailu. She feels cheated and misled by Varun. Heartbroken, Bhanu decides to forget Varun and kill her feelings for him and starts to ignore him.
After his brother's marriage, Varun returns to America but can't stop thinking about Bhanu all the time. He decides to confess his love to her. But Bhanumathi gives him a rude by sending a footwear to him which enrages Varun creating a rift between them that widens further due to subsequent egotistical behaviours by both of them. How all this gets resolved and Varun and Bhanu unite, form the rest of the story.
Fidaa received universal acclaim. Sai Pallavi's performance is hailed as stealing the show, and Varun Tej's performance was received very well. The movie scored big at the box office and remained as one of the biggest hits of the year.

Sai Pallavi received Filmfare Award for Best Actress - Telugu, Hemachandra Vedala garnered Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer – Telugu for the song Oosupodhu, Madhu Priya won Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer – Telugu for the song Vachchinde, and Sekhar VJ received Filmfare Award for Best Dance Choreographer - South.
