E Review & Rating
'E' directed by Kukku Surendran is a Malayalam para-normal thriller which hit screens recently. Popular South Indian Gautami Tadimalla stars in the lead role of this movie which doesn't have any other popular name to boast about. In fact, the other leading roles in the movie were played by newcomers. A gang of aspiring filmmakers from Chennai visits Malathy Menon (Gautami) who is an Alzheimers patient and a music teacher, as part of making a documentary on Alzheimers. Malathy lives along with her daughter in a 100-year-old palatial house, a part of which is made into a homestay.
Gautami Menon, as Malathy, has delivered a delightful performance to watch. The lead cast, despite lacking any prior experience, has also done quite well.
The stunning frames by cinematographer Manoj Pillai are something that makes viewers sit through this otherwise horrible watch. Music by Rahul Raj is also remarkable. And 'E', except for its stunning frames and beautiful frames turns out to be a mediocre horror flick which fails to impress.
Final Verdict: A horror movie which hardly scares. Watch it for some stunning performances, soulful music, and some good laughs.

'E' is the fourth directorilal venture of Kukku Surendran after 'Oraal', 'Veeralipaattu' and 'Race'. The movie is touted to be paranormal thriller which stars Gautami Tadimalla in the lead role along with a band of fresh faces. Gautami, who has been a favorite of Malayali audience, is making her comeback to Mollywood with 'E'. The movie is produced by Sangeet Sivan and Amin Surani.
According to a synopsis provided by the filmmakers, 'E The Movie' follows the “mysterious event from the past that comes to haunt Malathi Menon (Gautami) and reveals a hidden secret.” The spooky trailer for the 'E' which released recently also suggests that 'E' would be a real horror-inducing watch for the lovers of horror films. But however the video songs from the movie hint that that there is so much to the film other than the horror.
Absence of popular and familar faces in the cast is infact a drawback and a blessing for 'E' at the sametime. But to know whether or not it will work in favour of the movie, we have to wait till the initial reports come. On the whole, 'E' has its chances at the box office, but the success of the movie will highly depend upon the initial reviews.
