Diwanjimoola Grand Prix Review & Rating|
Diwanjimoola Grand Prix starring Kunchako Boban, Nyla Usha, Vinayakan, Nedumudi Venu, and Siddique among others is touted to be a full-on entertainer. Written, directed and co-produced by National Award-winning filmmaker Anil Radhakrishnan Menon, the movie is highly anticipated one. The presence some of the characters from old movies like Rishi (Thuvanathumbikal) and Leaf Vaasu (Sapthamasree Thaskaraha) has triggered the expectations of the audience high. Here is how well the movie manages to do.
The movie opens when Sajan Joseph IAS takes charge as the collector Thrissur district. Within no time, he steals the heart of the natives with his administrative and developmental measures. What happens when he attempts to bring back a dirt bike grand pix in the slightly infamous Diwanjimoola colony forms the crux of the movie.
The movie features a stellar cast including the Kunchacko Boban, Nyla Usha, Siddique, Nedumudi Venu and Sudheer Karamana. While most of the cast has put forward engaging and convincing performances, it is Vinayakan who appears towards the end of the movie as an ex-biker turned pastor becomes the show stealer. Siddique who essays the role of Jithendra has also done an outstanding performance in the movie. Nyla Usha's performance Jithendra's daughter is real and catchy while Kuchako Boban in his not-so-striking character steals the show with his good looks.
Director Anil Radhakrishna Menon's script lacks scrupulousness; the movie runs haywire at many points failing to create a striking advancement towards the climax. Yet, he manages to keep the audience hooked to the movie using the possibilities of humor well, incorporating a series of thrilling moments and depicting the whole story in the realistic way possible. Despite being predictable, the movie manages to be a decent and enjoyable watch. Alex J Pulikkal, the cinematographer of the movie has done a good job. The racing sequences are brilliantly captured by him. Editor Manoj Kannoth and Music director Gopi Sunder have also handled their respective departments well.
Final Verdict: A movie that fails to match the standards set by its director. All the same, an enjoyable watch.

What To Expect From Diwanjimoola Grand Prix ?
A Full-on Entertainer
Anil Radhakrishna Menon's all three previous movies are quite high on entertainment quotient. While his debut directorial North 24 Katham starring Fahadh Faasil was an enjoyable watch giving prominence to suspense and light humor, his second movie Sapthmasree Thaskaraha was high on twists and turns and slapstick comedy. His last movie Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi, although failed to strike the right chord with the audience, was a fresh attempt in Malayalam. Diwanjimoola Grand Prix, has many specialties, which makes it an anticipated movie. The major highlight of the movie is its interesting premise; a colony, some rustic humans, and a bike race. With a plot like that, its impossible for the movie to be anything short of entertaining.
Some Hearty Performance
Another major highlight of the movie is its stellar cast. While Kunchako Boban and Nyla Usha appear in lead roles, others including Ketaki Narayan, Rajeev Pillai, Joy Mathew and Shaheen essay some striking characters. The movie also brings back on the screen a few endearing characters; Nedumudi Venu's Nobiletan and Sudheer Karamana’s Leaf Vasu from Sapthamasree Thaskaraha, Tini Tom's character from Mammootty starrer Pranchiyettan And The Saint, and Asokan's Rishi from Thuvanathumbikal. Vinayakan role in the movie is also a much-anticipated one by movie buffs.
