Theeran Adhigaram Ondru Review & Rating

Karthi is back with yet another cop drama ‘Theeran Adhigaram Ondru’ directed by H. Vinoth after the commercial hit 'Siruthai.' ‘Theeran Adhigaram Ondru’ is a cop-dacoit drama based on true incidents that took place in the 90’s where a gang of ruthless masked dacoits terrorized residents staying in lonely houses in cities and suburbs of TN. Police Officer Theeran Thirumaran (Karthi) faces the biggest challenge of his career when he is given the task to crack down upon the dacoits. How Theeran goes on to crack the case and get the culprits to book forms the crux of this action thriller.

Director Vinoth is in full control with the proceedings of ‘Theeran Adhigaram Ondru’ as he and his team have done in-depth research and added elements that are informative and engaging. Karthi as Police Officer Theeran Thirumaran is in top form and lives the role as Rakul Preet Singh too adds freshness to the romance between the lead pair. Abhimanyu Singh suits the role of the antagonist to the T. Except for Sathyan and Manobala, the supporting cast is more or less new which again are a welcome change.

The technical aspects of the film are worth a mention as Vinoth once again proves why he’s a master of action thrillers. Though Ghibran’s songs are not memorable his background score is a definite plus. Action director Dhilip Subbarayan deserves applause for some breathtaking stunt sequences which are captured beautifully by Sathyan Sooryan’s camera work. The editing by Shivanandeeswaran is crisp.

Theeran Adhigaram Ondru released with a positive buzz and succeeded in reaching the expectations of the audience. Theeran Adhigaram Ondru is a high voltage action thriller. Action episodes are the major highlights of the movie. Coming to the performance Karthi acted well in the serious cop role with high intensity. Karthi and Rakul pair looked adorable. Rakul justified her role. Though songs didn't get a good response from the audience, Gibran managed well with the background score. Special mentions for cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan and the stunt director Dhilip Subburayan. Stunt scenes in the desserts of Rajasthan were choreographed well and the camera work was superb which sync with the plot of the story with grey tone. Overall a good action packed movie for those who love to watch the action flicks.

'Theeran Adhigaram Ondru' is one movie which is must watch for action movie lovers. Though the first half an hour or so is slow as director takes some time to set the things up. But the 30 minutes before the interval is so interesting and the interval bang episode will blow your mind away. The second half is predictable but still gripping enough to make an interesting watch. Karthi plays his role well and gives a convincing performance and director H Vinoth once again proves his writing and direction skills. Finally, Theeran is one of the finest cop dramas ever made in Kollywood, Must watch.

Karthi is back to what he does best. With ‘Theeran Adhigaram Ondru’ he yet again proves that he and his brother Suriya can pull off any cop drama with ease. This flick keeps you on the edge of your seats until the very end with excellent action sequences. The chase sequences are breathtaking especially when Karthi jumps from one van to another. Rakul looks good in a small role. Abhimanyu is refreshing as the villain. The item song was out of place otherwise it’s a good watch. One of Karthi’s better films which may appeal to his die-hard fans.
