Commando 3 Review: Vidyut's Electrifying Stunt Work Lifts Commando 3
Vidyut Jammwal's previous release of the year received almost average to negative reviews but it performed well with the target audience i. e. kids. Jungles was a good hit among the kids and what attracted everyone was the stunning stunt work of Vidyut. Electrifying to say the least. His latest outing is his defining character. That of Commando.
Commando 3, the latest installment in the action thriller franchise has everything you associate with heavy-duty action films. Patriotic fervor. Well choreographed if violent action sequences. Cheesy but catchy one-liners. And gorgeous ladies who either look in distress or kick the butts of baddies.
So, we have a police officer chases a few miscreants in the beginning and bang! A bigger plot is unraveled. A terror attack (even Mission Impossible too has the same plot on and on. So, don't fret) on cards. Only one person can save the day. Commando Karanveer Singh Dogra. So, you know what happens next.
Adah Sharma who has sent down heat waves with her Instagram photos often revealing a few photographs related to Commando 3 is gorgeous and sexy as required. She's good in stunts and did carry apt expressions when she needed to act. Mallika Sood as the British counterpart of the duo is neat. She too gets a few moments to shine. The baddies are as usual baddies. No grey-shades. So, that's that.
But hey! You're here because you want to know if Vidyut Jammwal delivered on the promise. Yes, sir. And he delivered a bonus too. The action sequences, especially the hand to hand combats are creatively choreographed. Vidyut shined in all the stunt scenes like there is no tomorrow. Just the climactic action scene is enough to say the film is poora paisa vasool.
What lacks in the novelty of the subject is overshadowed by Vidyut's charisma and stunning stunt work. But as this film is targeted with the adults in general, the action is violent. But not too brutal. The narration has enough thrills but could have been better. The screenplay followed the classic template of hero intro with a bang. A good interval bang. And several dialogues about patriotism. If you leave aside the cinematic liberties and know the genre of the film well, you'll enjoy the show on display by Vidyut Jammwal and Adah Sharma.
The music is good and apt for the genre. The cinematography is electrifying. The production design is superb. The editing is neat. There's not much to be chopped off. And the production values are grand.
Commando 3 delivers on the promise. And that's that. Some may feel it's a cheesy stunt film and action lovers, especially the fans of Vidyut Jammwal's style of action will surely get entertained by it. Whether you like it or not, the film is a slickly executed action thriller. And Vidyut Jammwal is electrifyingly good in action sequences.
