Katthi is a carefree youngster who doesn't amount to much in education. he doesn't have a goal in life and he always spends his time with his friends. One fine day, he falls in love with a Bengali girl named Parineetha. He starts chasing her. After a lot of wooing, he somehow manages to win her love. But things remain the same. 

For a marriage to happen, the elders of both sides have to accept. Here the problem arises when Parineetha's father comes across their love. He is a sort of perfect gentleman. He wants everything perfect. But Katthi is as careless as it gets and is the exact opposite of Parineetha's father, Somnath Chatterjee. 

When Somnath chastises Parineetha, she seeks the help of Katthi. He goes to the home of his love and expresses his feelings for her to her father. Somnath immediately gets a match for his daughter, but Katthi intervenes. Somnath then challenges Katthi and gives him a month's time. What's the challenge and if Katthi fulfills it and gets Parineetha's hand in marriage forms the rest of the story.
