Based on Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay's thriller novel Benisanghar, the movie was last collaboration of Anjan Dutt and Abir Chatterjee in a Byomkesh Bakshi series. The film starts with rich businessman Benimadhab (Biswajit Chakraborty), who believes someone from his family is trying to kill him. He requests Byomkesh (Abir) to take his case and investigates the matter. Just when Byomkesh Bakshi starts his investigation along with Ajit, his friend cum his sidekick, Benimadhab gets killed ruthlessly. Not only him, but the murderer also killed his faithful servant cum bodyguard Meghraj who was sleeping in the same room at the same time.

While investigating Byomkesh realized Benimadhab didn't believe any of his son, daughter, daughters-in-law and other relatives living under the same roof. Everybody had tried to impress the old man for their own sake and everyone has a motive to murder the ill-behaved person. There are also the young grandchildren of Benimadhab and they have their own secrets. Apparently, the killer slit the throat of Menimadhab and he killed his bodyguard in order to reach his goal. But, the murder mystery is way more intricate than it seems and the clue of the crime lies in the relationships the family members share with each other.
