Brand Babu Review & Rating
Brand babu Review: A Timepass Entertainer
Brand babu created a bit of interest in the Telugu audience with the director inform Maruthi's story and directed by P. Prabhakar. Kannada star Sumanth Shailendra debuts in Tollywood with this movie produced by Shree Shailendra Productions. Telugu girl Eesha Rebba stars as the heroine of this film.
The brand consciousness and consumerism have taken place in the modern society and the value for human relationships started to wane. The point is hilariously dealt with using sugar coating in this film. Most of the films Maruthi dealing with these days have similar content, this time about the brand fanaticism. Let's see if how the movie turns out and Sumanth Shailendra scores a hit with Telugu debut with Brand babu.
Ratnam played by the superb Murali Sharma is a millionaire. He is brand conscious so much so that even in real life, he wants people with a brand value to be associated with him. Means, people below the range of him, especially the middle class and the poor are not even registered in his mind as human beings.
Diamond Babu, aptly named by his father Ratnam played by Sumanth Shailendra is brought up with his father's ideologies. He is as brand conscious as his father, Ratnam, if not more wants to increase his brand value, plans to woo the home minister's daughter. He gets in the contact with her and develops a relationship. But then a shocking truth gets revealed and he and his lover get separated. Why they get separated and how they reunite form the crux of the story.
As with another father-son film Murali Sharma acted in, Brand babu also belongs to him. He is they cog who keeps the wheel of this film not collapsed. His body language is that of a filthy rich person and his expressions are apt and his dialogue delivery adds value to the film. Sumanth Shailendra made a decent debut in Telugu with a comedic and heroic role. His body language suited the film. But he should take care of his histrionics.
Story and direction
The story given by Maruthi may sound like a routine one but it's curious because of the angle of consumerism is added. The direction by Prabhakar is good in parts. He should have established the characters in a better way. Also, The reason for the separation of the lead pair should have been handled well. But he excelled in making the comedy scenes tick.
Music by JB is good in parts. The background score is pretty average. The cinematography of this film is good with colourful visuals. The production values by Shree Shailendra Productions are grand. Editing could have been better as some scenes do not appear coherent.
On a whole, Brand Babu is a time pass entertainment with loads of comedy. The performances, colourful cinematography, and different subject matter make this movie a passable watch. You can give it a try for the comedy.
