Brahmotsavam directed by Srikanth Addala has Mahesh Babu, Samantha, Kajal in the lead roles and many senior actors like Sathyaraj, Rao Ramesh, Revathi, Jayasudha and others in supporting roles. Coming to the film's story Chantibabu (Sathyaraj) is a successful entrepreneur who lives happily with his wife Mahalakshmi (Revathi) and Babu (Mahesh Babu). Mahalakshmi has 4 step brothers one of which is Peddabbai (Rao Ramesh). They all live happily with frequent get-togethers and functions but Peddabbai is always upset because everyone respects Chantibabu and credit goes to him for everything while they both strived together to make their family rich. His wife Rajyalakshmi (Jayasudha) suggests him to marry their daughter (Pranitha Subhash) to Babu.
Then arrives Kasi Annapurna (Kajal), daughter of Chantibabu's friend. She is an NRI who visits India to spend her 2 months vacation. After a while, she and Babu get closer. The entire family goes to Ooty for a tour where she expresses her feelings to Babu. But they decide to break up as their thoughts don't match. She kisses Babu while bidding a good by which Peddabbai sees and leaves Ooty. This incident pinches him and he bursts out one day and scolds Chantibabu. Saddened by this Chantibabu dies to leave Babu and Mahalakshmi in grief.
Meanwhile, Babu's sister's friend (Samantha) arrives in India to watch Brahmotsavam in Tirumala. She along with Babu go on a road trip to meet Babu's ancestors and they get closer in the process. One day they meet Peddabbai who sets his daughter's alliance with a minister's son. He doesn't invite Babu and Mahalakshmi. Peddabbai meets Samantha and requests her to leave Babu for her daughter's sake and she leaves to Brahmotsavam. Babu and Mahalakshmi attend the marriage and Peddabbai insults them. How things change to settle the disputes of this family and how Babu and Samantha get together forms the rest of the story.
Brahmotsavam received a negative response from the critics and audience alike. The film was slammed for a lackluster screenplay with uneven editing and a weak plot. However, performances of Mahesh and other actors were appreciated. The film ended up as a flop.
