Birsa Dasgupta's One is an official remake of Tamil thriller 'Thani Oruvan'. Starring Prosenjit Chatterjee, Yash Dasgupta, and Nusrat Jahan it's a thriller revolving around a cat and mouse chase between a criminal and a police officer. IPS officer Ronojoy Bose (Yash), an honest cop sets out on a mission to catch a felonious mastermind. Prosenjit Chatterjee plays Aditya Sen an evil genius, who has devious plans. He uses his brilliant mind, scientific inventions and his riches for illegal gains and Yash will try to expose him.
In the beginning, we see a low-level party worker and his son give a visit to a party leader. They witness a murder committed by their leader. The young boy takes the charges of murder in exchange for securing his father's place in the party and gaining him a position of MLA. The story takes a leap of many years. We see Ronojoy and his friends are taking training in the police academy. They would often go out and work as a vigilante at night. One night they witnessed a murder of an activist and soon realized it is a part of a much bigger crime. He started to investigate and soon he realized a brilliant mastermind is working behind a chain of criminal acts. He recognized the man is none other than renowned scientist Aditya Sen.
