Bhootchakra Pvt Ltd Review & Rating
Bhootchakra Pvt Ltd Review: Engaging, entertaining, and hilarious
The premise - A machine to catch ghosts!
Three friends discover a strange ghost-hunting device invented by one's grandfather. Now they plan to start a business as ghost hunters. They become successful in their plan. But, soon they realize that the instrument is not what it claims to be. Now, the trio finds themselves in trouble.
In one word, the film is entertaining. It won't make you shiver in fear but the thrill is there and the chill-factors are perfectly blended with the comedy. Interestingly, while the premise is funny, not everything the movie explores is funny. Instead, it touches sad and updating side of life keeping the exterior of the comedy intact.
Direction: Haranath Chakraborty is back
Haranath Chakraborty is a master of Bengali mainstream films. His earlier films, all commercial, tend to cater to the mass but never missed a message. Here too the filmmaker tried to cover the contemporary political and socio aspects with a comic twist. Unlike, Anik Dutt's Bhobishyoter Bhoot, Haranath didn't try to dig deep. The story is still very apolitical. Anyway, the contemporary elements simply bring the wittier side of the veteran filmmaker.
Performances: Humans and ghosts
Bhootchakra Pvt Ltd leaves a mark solely because of the actors. The chemistry between three friends played by Soham Chakraborty, Bonny Sengupta, and Gaurav Chakraborty is lovable. All three actors did well, however, Gaurav in the role of Nimo stood out the most with his hysteric laugh and crazy comic sense. Among the others, Srabanti did a good job.
Padmanabha Dasgupta's script deserves accolades. The characters of three friends and others are written with great care. One can feel pathos for the victims of the haunted house even when the film focuses on the crazy, ghostly surroundings. This is just good writing that works.
Anyway, the movie is not a perfect one. You can easily spot the loopholes in the plot. Somethings don't fit right in the narrative. The technical aspects, background score, and cinematography are just average.
The movie might not be a 10/10 one but it is a complete entertaining package that worth a watch. The viewers will have a good time at the theatre, that's confirmed.
- Performances especially Gaurav Chakraborty
- Haranath Chakraborty's direction
- Good Writing by Padmanava Dasgupta
- Funny and entertaining throughout
- Some plot holes
- Cinematography and background score
Pycker Rating: 3.5/5
