Bharat Ane Nenu Review & Rating|
Finally, it is here. The most awaited summer movie, Bharath Ane Nenu, is released today. Mahesh Babu who is suffering from flops had pinned his hopes on this movie. That he has played the role of a Chief Minister in this political thriller is enough to go to the theatres and stand in the queues for the fans. Of course, tickets can be booked in online, but that can still make it difficult to get a chance to watch the movie as easily as possible. Such is the demand for this Koratala Siva movie.
One more Bollywood starlet debuted with a Mahesh Babu film in Tollywood. Kiara Advani, who shot to fame as Sakshi Singh Dhoni in the M. S. Dhoni biopic is the heroine in Bharath Ane Nenu. There are many rumours about the role she played in this movie, and what she has to do in this movie and how she is related to Bharath will be revealed today.
As for Mahesh, he is still at his charming best after all these years. He is as non-political as it gets in the present day stars. But he got the chance to play the role of a young and dynamic Chief Minister in Bharath Ane Nenu among all of them. He is supported by a stellar support cast in the form of Sarath Kumar, Prakash Raj, Ravi Shankar and Posani. Each one of them is an expert in political movies. Add to them there is yesteryear heroine Aamani and Sithara, Bharath Ane Nenu is oozing talent.
With what we have seen in his previous movies, Koratala Siva is a solid director and terrific narrator. All the three movies he had directed till now gave the heroes their career best in terms of collections and solid critical acclaim. Devi Sri Prasad has been in great form these days. He has given top class music for this film. Bharath Ane Nenu is releasing amidst sky high expectations. The movie expected to become the biggest hit in Mahesh's career. With Rangasthalam has a peak box office performance, we can only guess how much Bharath will score if it gets any positive talk.
On a side note, superstar Krishna, Mahesh Babu father, played the role of a Chief Minister in a 1980s movie, aptly titled Mukhyamantri. As per few sentiments, superstar Krishna movie No. 1 was a career resurgent blockbuster. The movie 1: Nenokkadine was a flop for Mahesh. The movie Mukhyamantri was a failure at the box office. Now, following that will Mahesh score a blockbuster? Not forgetting the much talked about fight scene, let's see if Mahesh and his teaming with Koratala Siva reach the expectations with Bharath Ane Nenu review.
The political landscape
Bharath Ram is a youngster who resides in the UK. When an unexpected tragedy strikes his family, he hurriedly returns to India. The reluctant Bharath is made the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (undivided AP in a fictitious world). But a young and naiive Chief Minister doesn't stay calm.
Bharath brings accountability not only among the ministers and officials, he wants social accountability. This is never liked by real politicians. They scheme for the downfall of Bharath. How Bharath makes his vision real by fighting all the adversities and establish good governance forms the crux of the story. Bharath has a love story with a girl next door kinda Vasumathi.
The leader and others
No need to say Mahesh is a top class actor. He is recognised by critics and the audience as one of the best actors of recent times. He carried ordinary characters very well. When given a strong role, Mahesh gives a powerhouse performance. That is proved again with Bharath Ane Nenu. He walked through the character is an understatement. Special mention should be given to the way he expresses his anger. His screen presence is superior to many. Surprisingly, his styling in this movie is great.
Mahesh as Bharath Ram is a treat to his fans. He is the cynosure of all eyes. In the assembly scene, Mahesh delivered a class performance. In the press meet scenes towards the climax, we get thrilled to watch him. Though time and again Mahesh started that he is not interested politics, Mahesh suited the role to the T because Bharath is also not a politician. A landmark in his career? Certainly. A landmark in all political movies? With few doubts. There are better movies, but Bharath Ane Nenu is certainly one of the best to come out in recent times.
Kiara Advani got a smaller role. But her character drives the story forward by involving in a twist post interval. She is good both in looks and performance. It is Prakash Raj who steals the show after Mahesh. He again proves why he is such a treasure to Cinema. His subtle performance and the scenes with Mahesh stand as the backbone of the movie.
Sarath Kumar has done well in the limited role. Brahmaji is good as Bharath's personal secretary. But his character doesn't have the punch of Manivannan character in Oke Okkadu (Comparisons? Yes as that movie is a benchmark for commercial political movies). Devaraj is fine. Bommali Ravishankar has few key scenes and he excelled. Aamani, Sithara, Ajay (as a sincere police officer for a change), senior actress Rama Prabha made their presence felt.
First things first. The narration is as naiive as the hero Bharath. Too many cinematic liberties to dramatise the story. That aside, Koratala Siva again shows that he has the knack to deliver theme based films. There's no second opinion. The basic story resembles Rana Daggubati debut movie Leader. Where Sekhar Kammula failed and Koratala Siva succeeded is in making the screenplay engaging. The way he inserted social accountability theme is commendable. Without getting too preachy, the story touches contemporary issues.
References to Andhra Pradesh opposition leaderY. S. Jagan, and YCP MLA Roja cannot be missed. Assembly scenes and hero elevation scenes are constructed well. This is the best hero elevation in Mahesh career. He used Mahesh's strengths in an exemplary manner. Dialogues are good. Few dialogues stand out. The screenplay follows crest and trough pattern. Every high-intensity sequence is preceded by a low-intensity scene to create effect. We cannot expect realistic and logical narration. If we suspend belief, Bharath Ane Nenu has a superb screenplay. Overall his direction is solid and writing is great.
Music by Devi Sri Prasad is mesmerising. The background score is top class. It both complemented and elevated the narration. Bharath theme song and O Vasumathi are great. Vachadayya Sami song is too good. The visuals are stunning too. The cinematography by Ravi K. Chandra and Tirru is first rate. Visuals are rich and atmospheric. Editing by Sreekar Prasad is slick. It is said that so many scenes are cut down to make Bharath Ane Nenu a single movie. The editor made sure that the narration remains cohesive. An experienced hand is always an advantage.
The art direction is good. The assembly and few sets are done well. Production values are lavish. Visuals are as rich as it gets. Every penny spent can be seen on the screen. Detailing by the director is well supported.
On a whole Bharath Ane Nenu is the right movie at the right time for Mahesh. He is in need of a hit and this movie has given him the success. The first half is okay with character introduction and setting up the second half. The second half is intense with hero elevation scenes. Despite this, the narration never goes out of the way. The People's Army concept is memorable.
We cannot miss the feeling that this movie is a well made remake of Sekhar Kammula Leader. Some of the questions regarding Pawan Kalyan political work are answered by this movie. The climax is a bit let down compared to the intensity of the other scenes. The pre-climax appear a bit far fetched. But as fiction, it is handled well. Bharath the leader delivered.
Bharat Ane Nenu Critic Reviews
Bharat Ane Nenu User Reviews
Bharat Ane Nenu: Commercial Entertainer At Its Best! With the phase Mahesh is currently in and the way the trailer was cut, had me lower my expectations on this one. Though I had a strong belief in Koratala Siva, the storyteller, I was never a fan of the silly climaxes in his films. Well, Bharat Ane Nenu, in that case, has a better climax about which I will talk a bit later. About the movie's story, there's nothing new/out-of-the-box. Like many other political dramas, Bharat Ane Nenu too has the similar good Samaritan as the CM and the regular problems he faces in the political world. But what hits you is the brilliant writing of Koratala Siva, which makes you think even after you leave the theatres. Would you ever go in a wrong route if you know that you will have to pay a fine of Rs. 25000 which is more than your monthly salary? No, right? In one of the situations of the movie the honest CM Bharat implements the same rule (taking few cinematic liberties). There are many more such instances in the film where Koratala Siva questions you, educates you, warns you and slams the media (in)directly. Coming to the performances, Mahesh has a fantastic screen presence and the way he has used his much trolled subtle acting to the film's advantage will definitely shut down the trolls and proves yet again why he is called as one of the finest actors of Tollywood. He maintains his cool and carries a superb body language. Even in a mass fight scene where you'd expect him to throw a punch dialogue/act coming out of the character, he never does that. That just shows his class. Devi has once again excelled in elevating the film, the way the title song and theme were used in the film deserves an applause. For a regular moviegoer, Bharat Ane Nenu offers great entertainment and for moviebuffs, this is a perfect treat. Go for it!
Mahesh Babu's Terrific and never before performance, Koratala Siva's engaging and honest narration and DSP's haunting BGM are the main assets of the movie. Perfect with no flaws.. Must Watch.. Without a second thought just go for it. !!👍👍👍👍

Mahesh Babu powerhouse performance
Mahesh is a proven actor. Right from his childhood, he enjoyed stardom. After making his debut as the main lead with the movie Raja Kumarudu, this Tollywood Prince garnered an unprecedented fan following. After the critical and commercial failure of his previous entries Brahmotsavam and Spyder, he teamed up with Koratala Siva for this political thriller.
Mahesh who stated many times that he has no interest in politics is playing the role of Chief Minister, a first for the Tollywood heroes of this generation. Political movies are rare in Telugu these days, with the exception of Nene Raju Nene Mantri. Now, a star hero is playing a politician, that too a hero of the stature of Mahesh, everyone's eyes are on Bharath Ane Nenu.
Koratala Siva track record
Koratala Siva is one director in Telugu Film Industry who makes concept based movies. In the first film he directed, he discussed faction politics and compassion towards fellow human beings. In Srimanthudu he discussed adoption of villages by the rich and developing them. This inspired Mahesh and few other Telugu heroes to adopt villages. Recently Mahesh is building a school in the village he adopted.
In Janatha Garage, Koratala Siva discussed environmentalism through the character of N. T. R. Now, he touched the theme of politics, and youngsters are politicians. All the three movies he had directed (also wrote the story) became the biggest successes in the careers of the respective heroes up to that time. That fans of Mahesh pinned their hopes on this movie shows the potential of this writer-director.
Terrific supporting cast
Sarath Kumar is playing the role of hero's father. Prakash Raj's presence in a political thriller is an added advantage. He recently proved his value as an actor with his performance in Rangasthalam. If he is given a proper character, Sarath Kumar elevates the scenes with his screen presence. Sithara, Aamani, P. Ravi Shankar, and Posani etc. are known for their solid performance.
Music and Cinematography
The songs composed by rockstar Devi Sri Prasad got a highly positive response. The theme song crooned by David Simon is inspirational and illustrates the political vision of Bharath, his attitude, and commitment to his people. Vachadayyo Sami is one of the well received songs in recent time. Ramajogayya Sastry lyrics add value to this song. Devi Sri Prasad proved his prowess in background score with his recent movies. His association with this movie promises to be a grand musical feast.
Tirru is he cinematographer along with Ravi K. Chandran. Ravi K. Chandran handled the cinematography of some of the highly rated Indian movies like Yuva, Koi Mil Gaya, and 7aum Arivu. Tirru worked with Koratala Siva for the movie Janatha Garage and provided atmospheric cinematography. From what is evidenced by the trailer, both of them have done a terrific job.
