Biswanath Mazumdar (Soumitra Chatterjee) shocks his son and daughter-in-law (Shankar Chakraborty and Indrani Dutta), three daughters (Rituparna Sengupta, Aparajita Auddy and Monami Ghosh) and their husbands (Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee, Kharaj Mukherjee and Anindya Chatterjee) by announcing his decision to divorce his wife, Aarti (Swatilekha Sengupta) after 49 years of marriage. He is inspired by the idea of silver line divorce. He is also worried about his wife thinking about how she will manage if he dies someday.
He took the decision considering every aspect of the life. But, his sons, daughter, son-in-laws, and daughter-in-law found his decision absurd. The judge at the court suggests them to spend a few months together before taking the final decision. The entire family decides to go on a trip to Shantiniketan to rekindle the love between their parents. However, what they discover there was beyond their imagination.
Bela Shese is a quintessential love story, a tale of relationships and its different and ever-changing aspects. It’s an emotional drama that delves deeper into human heart and unfolds an unseen side of love. Throughout the film, the characters explore and re-discover the meaning of the institution called marriage.
