Bareilly Ki Barfi Story
Director: Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari
Cast: Ayushmann Khurrana as Chirag Dubey, Kriti Sanon as Bitti Mishra, and Rajkummar Rao as Pritam Vidrohi
Bareilly Ki Barfi is set in the small town of Bareilly, where Bitty lives. She is a happy go lucky girl who comes across a book named Bareilly Ki Barfi, and the lead character of the book describes her perfectly. She is bent upon meeting the writer and visits the publication house where she meets Chirag and asks him to introduce her to the author of the book, Pritam Vidrohi. She has no idea that it is, in fact, Chirag, who has written the book. Chirag wrote the book five years back when he was heartbroken because of his ex-girlfriend. Knowing the real name of the author will ruin the reputation of his ex-girlfriend, he then asks his meek friend to have his name under the author's name.
Chirag with his friend then set out to find his friend Pritam and convince him to pretend to be the author of the book. They teach him to act like a bad guy so that Bitti is unimpressed by Pritam. Things go haywire when Pritam falls in love with Bitti's best friend Rama and Bitti's parents consider Pritam suitable for Bitti. The rest of the film is Chirag trying to deal with this confusion while gaining the courage to confess his love for Bitti. Will Chirag unite with Bitti or not is a thing to watch.
Bareilly Ki Barfi received a positive response from the critics as well as from the audience. While Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon did justice to their characters, it was Rajkumar Rao's performance which was highly appreciated. The movie has peppy songs which were a big hit in the music world. Being made on a budget of 20 crores, Bareilly Ki Barfi collected 59.75 crores at the box office.
