Bajirao Mastani Story

In the early 18th century, Chhatrapati Shahu, the court of Maratha king wants a new Peshwa and a young Bajirao is given the title of Peshwa. Ten years later, Bajirao's wife Kashibai is visited by her widowed friend Bhanu, whose husband was executed because of spying, according to the orders given by Bajirao. Bhanu predicts Kashibai also will yearn for her husband as she yearns.
While traveling to Sironja, a messenger from Bundelkhand enters Bajirao's tent and seeks his help in fighting the invaders. The messenger reveals herself to be Mastani. Bajirao being impressed by her warrior skills helps her with his army in defeating the invaders. Bajirao and Mastani fall in love with each other. While leaving for Pune, Bajirao gives Mastani a dagger, unaware of the fact that the dagger symbolizes marriage for the Bundelkhand Rajputs.
Kashibai takes Bajirao to Aaina Mahal, which allows her to see him from her room. Mastani moves to Pune, where she is ill-treated. She meets Bajirao, who reveals that he is already married. He declares her as his second wife. In the Aaina Mahal, pregnant Kashibai sees Bajirao embracing Mastani, who is also expecting and she leaves for her mother's home. Both give birth to sons. Kashibai is upset with Bajirao for breaking her heart.
Bajirao's mother Radhabai and Kashibai's eldest son Nana Saheb imprison Mastani and her son. Kashibai sends a letter to release Mastani but Nana burns the letter. Bajirao defeats Nasir Jung's army and succumbs to injuries. Mastani dies in captivity and they are shown to be united in death.
Bajirao Mastani received positive critical reviews and was a major commercial success and one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. The movie won seven National Awards apart from 87 awards. The movie was dubbed in Tamil and Telugu languages by the names Bajirao Mastani (Tamil) and Bajirao Mastani (Telugu).
