Avengers: Infinity War (Telugu) Review & Rating
The D-Day is here. Earth's mightiest heroes joined together to fight to save the universe from the biggest threat, Thanos. The second sequel to the original Avengers movie and the sequel to the 2015 movie Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War is the movie the world waits to watch. The movie is released in India today in all languages. The Telugu version has the highlight of Rana Daggubati voice for the villain Thanos.
Produced under the careful supervision of Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, the Russo brothers, Anthony and Joe, directed this epic action-adventure superhero movie. The movie unites about two dozen superheroes. To direct such a movie and to give each and every character time to shine and register with the audience is next to impossible. The writers made the task easy by dividing the superheroes into groups and going with parallel narration. The director team did the rest.
Starring fan favorite Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Josh Brolin, Chris Evens, Chadwick Boseman, Scarlett Johanson, Tom Holland, Zoe Saldana, and Samuel L. Jackson (in a cameo), Avengers: Infinity War releases worldwide today. Populated by popular film stars playing favourite superheroes the movie scores many highs.
As set up from the original Avengers movie in 2012, Thanos the purple giant from the planet Titan (he is called Mad Titan) invades the Earth to gather all the six Infinity Stones which will make him bend time and alter reality. He attacks the Asgard Ship which has Thor, Loki, The Hulk, and all other Asgardians in order to retrieve the Space Stone from Tesseract. Thanos kills all the Asgardians and fights Loki and Thor.
One of the Asgardians, Heimdall, uses the Bifröst to send Hulk to Earth before he is killed by Thanos minion Glaive. The Hulk crashlands at Sanctum Sanctorum of Dr. Strange and alerts him of the Thanos threat. Dr. Strange briefs Tony Stark (Iron Man) about Thanos and Bruce Banner goes to alert all the other superheroes. What happens to Thanos' aim of gaining all the Infinity Stones, how and if the heroes stop the Mad Titan from killing half the universe just by flicking his fingers form the rest of the story.
Avengers: Infinity War is not a movie just to be watched. It is to be experienced. Despite many references to the previous movies of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and implications for the future movies in the series, the movie can be enjoyed by first time audience. The movie can be treated as standalone. The only problem for the virgin audience is they have to understand the heroes and their superpowers.
Anthony and Joe Russo previously delivered Captain America: The Winter Soldier and impressed everyone with deep storytelling. The movie is hailed as one of the best superhero movies of all time and paved way for them to get the chance to direct Captain America: Civil War and introduce Spider-Man to Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the fantastic results they produced, Marvel trusted them to direct the biggest movie of MCU. They did a great job with Infinity War.
All the actors who donned various superheroes shined. The face of MCU Robert Downey Jr. delivered master class performance as usual. Chris Hemsworth as Thor has major screen time and decisive action sequences. His screen presence is superb. Chris Evans as Steve Rogers (now he is not the Captain America after he left his shield) is inspiring as usual. Benedict Cumberbatch as the wizard Stephen Strange went into the skin of the character.
Scarlett Johanson as Black Widow/Natasha Romanoff excelled in the little screentime she had. Chadwick Boseman who donned the role of T'Chala/Black Panther is royal. He continued his charismatic performance from Black Panther movie.
Special mention should be given to Tom Holland who played the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. As a teenager and protege of a big man like Tony Stark, he steals the show in every scene he appears. Leave aside the masked Spider-Man, Tom Holland is the Peter Parker. Period. His dialogue delivery is impeccable. His character provides required comic relief in an otherwise serious atmosphere.
Now, to the villain Josh Brolin. As Thanos, he was both menacing and sympathetic. His aim of wiping out half the universe has a logic to his understanding. Brolin who provided performance capture and body movements is the first Marvel villain to have a three dimensional character and he delivered a punch! Rana Daggubati's voice for Thanos added to the menace. Kodos to Marvel India for bringing Rana to the Avengers.
When it is a Marvel movie and is made on an estimated $400 million budget, there's no need to talk about production values. Music by Alan Silvestri and the cinematography by Trent Opaloch are great as usual. A movie of this size and scope needs surehanded editing. Jeffrey Ford and Matthew Schmidt did a laudable job.
On a whole, Avengers: Infinity War is not a movie to be missed. It reached the sky high expectations in the lead up to the release. Every major character is not safe. Everyone's vulnerable. The body count reaches the maximum for any Marvel movie. The twists and turns made Infinity War a rollercoaster ride unlike any of the previous MCU movies. The climax and the ending of the movie leave you teary eyed. The action sequences thrill you. The heroes will amaze you with their sacrifice. Don't miss it. Go and experience the biggest superhero movie ever.
