Vinu Mohan is an actor most known for his work in Malayalam cinema. He made his debut in films with Nivedyam in 2007. Since then he has starred in films like Cycle (2008), Chattambinadu (2009), Koottukar (2010), Nee-Na (2015), Pulimurugan (2016), and Jomonte Suviseshangal (2017). He is the grandson of legendary theatre and film actor Kottarakkara Sreedharan Nair.
Vinu Mohan Early Life And Background
Vinu Mohan was born on 12th May 1986 to Mohan Kumar and Shobha at Kottarakkara, Kerala. His grandfather, Kottarakkara Sreedharan Nair was a state award-winning theatre and film actor while his mother Shobha and uncle Sai Kumar are prominent film artists.
Vinu finished his school education at the Boys Higher Secondary School Karunagappally, Kollam. Vinu Mohan made his onscreen debut at the age of 19 in V Harikumar’s Kanne Madanguka in 2005. He played Harikumar, a supporting role in the movie.
He made his debut as a lead actor with Ajantha a 2006 film which was released only in 2012. The first movie with Vinu in the lead to have a theatre release was the AK Lohithadas directed Nivedyam. This 2007 film was also a launch pad for actress Bhama and went on to become a success mostly owing to its songs. The film also turned out to be the legendary director’s last film.
Vinu went on to star in films which included A-list movies like Chattambinadu (with Mammootty, 2009), small budget flicks like Dalamarmarangal, Keralotsavam 2009 etc. He received flak for his choice of films which included Koottukar, Inganeyum Oral, (2010), Ee Thirakkinidayil (2012) and My Dear Mummy (2014). Most of these movies had dismal box office receptions.
After taking a hiatus from the film industry, Vinu Mohan came back to the silver screen with a powerful character in Lal Jose’s Nee-Na. His portrayal of Sunnykutty was well appreciated. The actor was next seen in Pulimurugan, one of the biggest movies Malayalam has ever seen. The film turned out to be a super hit. The actor had played the role of Mohanlal’s brother, Manikuttan in the movie. He starred alongside Dulquer Salmaan in Sathyan Anthikkad’s Jomonte Suvisheshangal in 2016.
