Raashi Khanna is a popular Indian actress who majorly works in Tollywood. During her stint at an advertising firm, as mentioned earlier, she was also trying her luck in modelling grabbing every opportunity. She appeared in several commercials including ‘Tata Sky’, ‘Domino Pizza’ and ‘Tanishq Diamonds’. Impressed by her charm, pretty looking face and of course, her acting in ‘Tata Sky’ ad, the casting director of ‘Madras Café’ Jogi called and asked her to give audition for the film. The actress auditioned for ‘Madras Café’ without any expectations only to be surprised by a call from the director of the movie, Shoojit Sircar. This unexpected offer changed her life altogether with multiple movies lined up for years.
The actress apparently wasn’t yet sure of taking up acting as a full-fledged career even after her first film ‘Madras Café’ turning a big success. But, it is after Raashi Khanna’s first Telugu film ‘Oohalu Gusagusalaade’ released and turned into a blockbuster, the actress took a serious decision of continuing in the film industry. Interestingly, even before her Telugu debut ‘Oohalu Gusagusalaade’ released, ‘Manam’ in which she appeared in a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo, hit the screens first introducing cute Raashi Khanna to Telugu silver screen.
‘Oohalu Gusa Gusalaade’ can be considered as the first best thing happened in Rashi Khanna’s film career. It helped to establish her place in the film industry among the young crop of heroines. In the role of Prabhavathy, a girl from Delhi who comes to Vizag for summer vacation received numerous accolades. Immediately after ‘Oohalu Gusagusalaade’, she acted opposite Sundeep Kishan in the film ‘Joru’. Although the film failed at the box office, it hasn't prevented the actress from getting offers from all over. Notably, Raashi Khanna has sung title song of ‘Joru’ which still stands as one of the most watched videos of her on YouTube.
In 2015, the actress appeared in 3 big films –'Jil', 'Shivam' and Bengal Tiger opposite Gopichand, Ram and Ravi Teja respectively. Except for ‘Bengal Tiger’, the other two films couldn’t do well at the box office. Especially, ‘Shivam’, in which she acted opposite Ram swept away leaving no traces. But Bengal Tiger, which almost released at the end of the year, turned out to be commercial entertainer making her enter into New Year with a smile.
With the super success of ‘Bengal Tiger’, the actress grabbed two films in 2016, a year in Telugu cinema flourished with quite a number of hits. The first film of Rashi Khanna to release in this year was ‘Supreme’. This Anil Ravipudi’s energetic film gave the actress an unprecedented comical image. As Bellam Sridevi, a local Sub-Inspector, Raashi Khanna was nothing short of awesome. After the super success of ‘Supreme’, the actress has once again paired opposite Ram in ‘Hyper’. Following the fate of ‘Shivam’, this film too couldn’t hit the right chord for the Jodi.
Even with the above average and meagre hits in the previous years, Raashi Khanna could be a part of several films in 2017. Despite being very late, the actress entered in 2017 with a bang. Her first movie of the year, ‘Jai Lava Kusa’ starring Jr NTR in triple roles, created a storm at the box office. Following this big hit, she did a special song in Ravi Teja’s comeback film ‘Raja the Great’. And the next one to come in this big line of 2017 movies was Gopichand’s action entertainer ‘Oxygen’ directed by Sampath Nandi. Amongst all these Telugu movies, Raashi Khanna, for the first time entered into Tamil. Her Tamil debut ‘Shaitaan Ka Baccha’ featured Siddharth in the lead role. Then came, ‘Imaikka Nodigal’, a crime thriller having Nayanthara in the lead role and Bollywood acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap as an antagonist. She played one of the crucial characters of this Ajay Gnanamuthu’s directorial. In the same year, she got an opportunity to enter into Malayalam cinema too. She made her Mollywood debut with ‘Villain’ featuring Superstar Mohanlal in the lead role. She was one of the popular South Indian actors to be introduced to Malayalam cinema with this movie. Along with her, Hansika Motwani, Vishal and Srikanth were also introduced to Mollywood. She played Harshita Chopra, a cop with negative shades in the film. Interestingly, she has also sung promo song for this movie.
There were two more films under production in 2017 –‘Touch Chesi Choodu’ in which she once again acted opposite Ravi Teja and other one was ‘Toli Prema’ starring Varun Tej Konidela in the lead role.
