Mimi Chakraborty is a renowned Indian film actress, who is known for her works in Bengali cinema. Mimi started her career in Bengali television and rose to fame with critically acclaimed TV show 'Gaaner Oparey' where she played 'Pupe', the female lead. Being a brainchild of noted filmmaker Rituporno Ghosh, brought her fame from the national and international audience. Later, she debuted in Bengali cinema with 'Bapi Bari Jaa'. Mimi was born in Jalpaiguri, a city in North Bengal. She spent her childhood in Deomali, a small town in Arunachal Pradesh. Later she moved back to her ancestral home in Jalpaiguri with her parents and sister. She went to Holy Child School, Jalpaiguri and later joined St. James' School, Binnaguri. Mimi came to Kolkara to complete her higher education and did her graduation in English from Asutosh College.

Mimi started her career as a TV actress. Her first TV show was 'Champion' which was telecasted in Akash Bangla.
Mimi shot to fame with her second mega serial 'Gaaner Oparey' in Star Jalsa where she played the female lead Pupe opposite Arjun Chakraborty. Produced by Prosenjit Chatterjee, the TV show gained her international fame.
After the completion of 'Gaaner Oparey', Mimi tried her luck on the silver screen in 2012. She debuted with Sudeshna Roy and Abhijit Guha directorial 'Bapi Bari Jaa' where she was again paired with Arjun Chakraborty.
Next, Mimi went on to star in Raj Chakraborty's 'Bojhena Se Bojhena' along with Abir Chatterjee, Soham Chakraborty, and Payel Sarkar which became a box-office hit in 2012. Mimi's pairing with Soham was well received. Later they appeared in multiple films together.
In 2013, Mimi appeared in Raj Chakraborty's much-appreciated film 'Proloy' where she shared the screen with Parambrata Chatterjee, Saswata Chatterjee, and Paran Bandyopadhyay. Next year, Mimi appeared in Raj Chakraborty's 'Yoddha: The Warrior', Kaushik Ganguly's 'Khaad', Birsa Dasgupta's 'Golpo Holeo Sotti', and Ravi Kinagi's 'Bangali Babu English Mem'.
'Jamai 420' released in the first half of 2015 where she starred opposite Soham which went on to become one of the biggest hits of the year. She had two Durga Puja releases that year, among them Birsa's 'Shudhu Tomari Jonyo' became the highest grosser of the year. Another film, Raj Chakraborty's 'Katmundu' too earned moolah at the box-office.
Mimi had back-to-back three releases in 2016 and all of them were made under the banner of SVF. Her chemistry with Ankush in 'Ki Kore Toke Bolbo' was appreciated by the audience. In 'Kelor Kirti' she appeared opposite Jisshu Sengupta for the first time. Her performance in 'Gangster' opposite debutant Yash Dasgupta garnered appreciation from her fans.
