Lavanya Tripathi Career
When Lavanya won the Miss Uttarakhand title, she realized that showbiz was something that she always wanted to be a part of. It wasn’t very difficult to convince her parents who said she could pursue her dream only on condition that she finishes her studies as well.
She moved to Mumbai and began a career as a model, simultaneously pursued studies. She walked the ramp and simultaneously auditioned for advertisements. While she didn’t have it easy for more than a year and a half, in 2008, that she was chosen as a contestant for ‘Get Gorgeous 5’, a stint she says was instrumental in helping her shed her inhibitions and become confident in front of the camera. A television commercial with Fair and Lovely followed along with hordes of several beauty products including Chik Shampoo, Ponds, Vogue, Stayfree, Future Genera, Kotak Mahindra, Temptation and Kumarika Oil. She even shot for a commercial with Shah Rukh Khan.
It was then during this period that a chance meeting with an agent at a coffee shop landed her with a role in Ekta Kapoor’s 2009 soap ‘Pyaar Ka Bandhan’. While she wasn’t very excited about the pay or the long hours of work here, especially after working on endorsements, she did find her passion for acting and saw this as a learning experience, and a way to get away from the “boring” job of doing the same thing repeatedly as a model.
In 2011, Lavanya auditioned for her most acclaimed role of Mithuna in HanuRaghavapudi’s ‘AndalaRakshasi’ which released in 2012. She was eventually flooded with offers in both Telugu and Tamil but took up only ‘Doosukeltha’(2014) and ‘Brahman’ (2014). After that, she went on a sabbatical for around a year, when she was seen in a cameo in Manam. She was then back with a bang in 2015’s ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoi’. The year 2016 proved to be phenomenal for her as she gave two hits – ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’ and ‘Srirastu Subhamastu’.
She later went on to a higher league and signed Srinu Vaitla's film with Varun Tej and debutant director Chandra Mohan's film with Sharwanand. She made her Kollywood come back in 2016 with Sundeep Kishan's 'Mayavan'.
