Kareena Kapoor, better known for her style statements, belongs to the fourth generation of the famous Kapoor family. With an inspiration towards acting, she debuted in Bollywood with ‘Refugee’ in 2000 and went on to appear in 31 other Hindi films in which she proved her mettle by working in various roles. Kareena was born in Bombay to actors Randhir Kapoor and Babita. Also referred to as 'Bebo', Kareena has an elder sister, Karishma Kapoor who also is a renowned actress. Kareena Kapoor got hitched to Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan on 16th October 2012, in a private ceremony in Bandra. On 20th December 2016, Kareena and Saif were blessed with a baby boy. They named the baby as Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi.
Kareena Kapoor Khan Career
Before stepping into Bollywood industry, Kareena Kapoor enrolled herself at an acting institute in Mumbai mentored by Kishore Namit Kapoor. Kareena was supposed to make her debut in 2000 film Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai opposite Hrithik Roshan. However, she backed out of the project because more attention was given to the director's son. Kareena later debuted in Bollywood war-drama refugee opposite Abhishek Bachchan. The movie saw a moderate success at the box-office and Kareena's performance was highly appreciated by the critics. Kareena bagged Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.
Kareena's second movie Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai alongside Tushaar Kapoor was a box-office hit followed by a flop movie Yaadein and a moderately successful film Ajnabee. Later that year, her two releases Aśoka and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... established her as one of the leading actresses in Bollywood. So far Kareena has worked in over 50 movies and has major hits like Bodyguard, Jab We Met, Omkara, 3 Idiots, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Udta Punjab.
Kareena has won several accolades including 6 Filmfare Awards, and 4 International Indian Film Academy Awards. After taking a year gap from acting, Kareena Kapoor Khan appeared in a romantic-comedy flick Veere Di Wedding alongside Sonam Kapoor and Swara Bhaskar.
