Fahadh Faasil is an actor who works predominantly in Malayalam films. He is the son of veteran director Fazil and made his debut in 2002 with the Faazil film Kaiyethum Doorathu. After his debut, Fahadh took a sabbatical from films, only to return in 2009. He has since then gone on to establish himself as one of the most prolific actors in mainstream Malayalam cinema today. His most popular movies include Chappa Kurishu (2011), Annayum Rasoolum, 22 Female Kottayam, Bangalore Days, Maheshinte Prathikaaram and Thondimuthalum Driksashiyum. He has won the Kerala State Film Award twice, in 2011 for Chappa Kurishu and in 2013 for Artist.

Fahadh Faasil was born to popular Malayalam film director and Producer Fazil and Rozina on 8th August 1982 in Alappuzha, Kerala. The actor has two sisters Ahameda and Fatima and a younger brother, Farhaan Faasil. Fahadh did his initial schooling at the SDV Central School, Allappey and later at Lawrence School, Ooty, Tamil Nadu and Choice School, Thripunithara, Ernakulam. After pursuing his graduation from Santana Dharma College, Fahadh was cast in Kaiyethum Doorathu, which his father directed.

His brother, Farhaan, made debut as an actor in Rajeev Ravi’s Njaan Steve Lopez. He got engaged to Banglore Days actress Nazriya Nazim on 20th January 2014. The two had just acted as a couple in Anjali Menon’s Bangalore Days and the subsequent announcement of their engagement made it an event in the media. It was an arranged marriage and the couple finally tied the knot on 21st August 2014.

Fahadh Faasil had made his entry into films as a child artist in his father’s direction, Pappayude Swantham Appoos, a 1992 Mammootty starrer. Later in 2002, Fazil launched his son officially with the romantic drama, Kaiyethum Doorathu. Fahadh was 19 at the time and was hugely disappointed at the failure of his debut movie. After Kaiyethum Doorathu, Fahadh left for the US to pursue a masters in philosophy from Miami University.
Fahadh returned after five years and made re-entry into Malayalam with the anthology, Mrithyunjayam(2009). The film was helmed by Ranjith and opened doors for him for further projects. He later acted in films like Pramani and Tournament in supporting roles. What created a star out of Fahadh was the Sameer Thahir drama, Chappa Kurishu(2011), an adaptation of the Korean thriller, Handphone. The film did surprisingly well for a small movie. His kissing scene with actress Ramya Nambeesan was hugely controversial and boosted the film’s popularity. Fahadh’s bold portrayal of the character Arjun was well appreciated and he was immediately accepted as the next ‘actor’.
He starred in a string of films in 2012 including Padmasree Saroj Kumar, Diamond Necklace, and Friday. He also acted in Aashiq Abu’s gritty thriller, 22 Female Kottayam. The movie bagged him his first Filmfare award for Best Actor. Next year, Fahadh did his most films he has ever done in a year – 11. His performances in films like Immanuel, Akam, 5 Sundarikal, and Red Wine were greatly appreciated. The films which stole the show were Annayum Rasoolum, Artist, and North 24 Kaatham.
2013 was really a remarkable year in the career of Fahadh Faasil. The very first film of the year Rajeev Ravi's Annayum Rasoolum to the last release of the year Oru Indian Paranayakadha, brought out his acting prowess on screen and fetched him the attention and appraisal of the critics as well as audience. Fahadh went on to fetch the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Artist and North 24 Kaatham the same year.
The following year, Fahadh was seen in films like Bangalore Days, Iyobinte Pusthakam and 1 By Two. He also starred in God’s Own Country and Money Rathnam. While Amal Neerad’s stunning period drama Iyobinte Pusthakam was a class apart, Bangalore Days had an ensemble cast and broke all the box office records.
In 2015, most of Fahadh’s films underperformed at the box office except Ayal Njanalla which had an average run. 2016 started with Monsoon Mangoes which despite being a critical success failed at the box office. Then came Maheshinte Prathikaaram directed by Dileesh Pothen, a longtime associate of Aashiq Abu. The film was a huge success at the box-office and reinstated Fahadh’s box office status.
Take Off and Thondimuthalum Driksashiyum which came out in 2018 fetched huge critic and commercial success while Role Models, directed by Raffi ended up as a disappointment. His performance as a thief in the Dileesh Pothen directorial Thondimuthalum Driksashiyum was highly appreciated and he went on to bag the National Award for the Best Supporting Actor for the same. 2017 also saw the actor stepping into Tamil film industry with the Mohan Raja film Velaikkaran in which he co-starred with Kollywood star Sivakarthikeyan. His performance in the movie was lauded by critics as well as Tamil audience.
Venu's Carbon was Fahadh Faasil's first release in 2018 which again won him some great words from the part of the critics. Trance, his second Tamil movie Super Deluxe are the anticipated ones among actor's upcoming releases.

Fahadh made his foray into film production by co-producing the Amal Neerad magnum opus, Iyobinte Pusthakam under the banner Fahadh Faasil and Friend’s Pvt Ltd. The actor courted controversy when he kissed Ramya Nambeeshan onscreen. The kiss, which lasted for more than two minutes created a huge furor and the actor was criticized as well as lauded for his bold move.
