Aju Varghese was born in Thiruvalla on 11th January 1985 to Varghese PK and Celine Susan. He did his initial schooling at Rajagiri High School, Kalamassery and later at Bhavans Adarsha Vidyalaya, both at Ernakulam. After finishing high school, Aju joined Hindustan College of Engineering to obtain a degree in Electronics and Communication engineering. He was invited by his college friend and singer Vineeth Sreenivasan to act in his debut directorial, Malarvadi Arts Club. Aju was working in the HR department of HSBC, Chennai when he was called.

Aju Varghese is the son of PK Varghese and Celine Susan. He has a sister, Anju. Aju married Augustina on 24th February 2014 at St Gregarious Church, Elamkulam, Cochin. The couple was blessed with twins, Juvan and Evan on 28th October 2014. The couple became parents again on 30th September 2016 when Augustina gave birth to twins, Jake and Luke.
Aju Varghese Career
Aju Varghese made his entry into films through Malarvadi Arts Club. The film was directed by debutant Vineeth Sreenivasan and had a bunch of newbies including Nivin Pauly, Shraavan, Bhagath and Aju playing the lead roles. The film was produced by Dileep and became a big hit and grossed more than 6 crores at the box office. Aju’s character, Kuttu was appreciated and was noted for his comic timing. This paved way for more films for the actor. Aju played Kuttu again, this time in Vineeth Sreenivasan’s second film, Thattathin Marayathu (2012). Starring Nivin Pauly and Isha Talwar in the lead, the movie turned out to be a runaway hit and asserted both Nivin and Aju’s positions in the film industry.
After his debut movie, Aju was seen in films like Sevenes, Doctor Love, Manikya Kallu (2011) and Mayamohini (2012). After the tremendous success, the actor starred in Sunil Ibrahim’s Chapters and Vinay Govind’s stoner movie, Kili Poyi. The latter had him play the lead along with Asif Ali and it proved to be a success.
Aju continues doing comic roles in movies like Paisa Paisa, Buddy, Olipporu, Daiwathinte Swantham Cleetus and Zachariyayude Garbhinikal (2013). What saved the grace was Ranjith Shankar’s Punyalan Agarbathis which had him playing Greenu Sharma. The film was produced by actor Jayasurya, who had also played the lead in it, and went on to rake in the moolah at the box office.
In 2014, he played David Kaanjaani in Jude Anthany Joseph’s Ohm Shaanthi Oshaana. The film had Nazriya Nazim and Nivin Pauly playing the lead roles and became a success. Aju after playing supporting roles all along in his career turned lead hero with the Santhosh Khan directed comedy, Monayi Angane Aanayi. The film though failed to meet expectations. In the same year, Aju’s dream came true when he starred alongside Superstar Mohanlal in the NRI drama, Peruchazhi.
Aju Varghese, after a string of dismal performances finally came back to form with Jibu Jacob’s Biju Menon flick, Vellimoonga. Aju’s camaraderie with Biju Menon was hilarious and resulted in a superhit. He starred as Apoorva in Anvar Sadik’s take on Adam Sandler’s 50 First Dates in Ormayundo Ee Mukham. The film had Vineeth Sreenivasan and Namitha Pramod playing the lead roles.
Aju, who was by then a pro in making cameos (Mathai Kuzhappakkaranalla, Bicycle Thieves, Neram, Manikya Kallu) appeared in the now cult comedy, Aadu Oru Bheevi Aanu in 2015. He played his trademark comic act in Januse Mohammed’s debut directorial, 100 Days of Love. The breezy rom-com starring Dulquer Salmaan was an average hit at the B-O. One of the biggest hits of Aju’s career came in the form of Oru Vadakkan Selfie. Directed by Prajith and written by Vineeth Sreenivasan, the film brought back the hit combo of Vineeth Sreenivasan-Nivin Pauly- Aju Varghese. The movie broke box office records and Aju’s comic timing was instrumental in turning the film into a huge success.
Aju continued to appear in multi starrers like Rasputin, KL 10 Patthu, Kunjiramayanam, Urumbukal Urangarilla (2015) etc. He also starred alongside Kunchacko Boban in Jamna Pyari, with Mohanlal in Loham and Asif Ali in Kohinoor. His biggest success after Oru Vadakkan Selfie came in the form of Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam. The film went on to win a national award and tremendous critical and box office acclaim.
In 2016, his first release was the Mammootty-Nayantara starrer, Puthiya Niyamam. He also acted in Jayan K Nair’s comedy, Hello Namasthe, Saajan Mathew’s Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya. Aju again proved that multi-starrer comedies work for him with Adi Kapyare Kootamani, Pretham and Two Countries pulling off good collections at the box office. He played Abdul Rahman in Jacobite Swargarajyam, Vineeth Sreenivasan’s NRI drama starring Nivin Pauly. His 2018 started with the sequels Punyalan Private Limited and Aadu 2. Aju reprised his own character Greenu in the sequel Punyalan Private limited but this time, the director portrayed his character in a different way.
