You'll Be Sad To Know That These Kamal Haasan Films Have Been Shelved

Kamal Haasan often manages to create a lot of buzz with his films. Be it the content of his films or his approach towards controversial subjects, he always manages to stay in the spotlight. Due to his fine taste for content-driven films, he has a lot of fans across the globe. So captivating are his films that even Superstar Rajinikanth is a self-confessed fan of Ulaganayagan. Cutting to the chase, he has acted in over 200 films and has strived very hard to keep us all entertained. But, there are a handful of Haasan's films which didn't release. Yes, due to various reasons, some of his films didn't debut at the box office. Without further ado, let's take a look at those unreleased films which we are always game for.

  • Khabardar (1986)

    Telugu director T. Rama Rao, who is not to be confused with N. T. Rama Rao, started 'Khabardar', a Bollywood flick. The film's story was similar to Bollywood blockbuster 'Anand' which was drama centred upon a terminally ill patient and a doctor. Big shots Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan were to star in this film which dealt with euthanasia. However, after shooting a substantial portion of the film, it was shelved due to reasons unknown.

  • Kanden Seethaiyai (1996)

    The film, which was the remake of Malayam box office hit 'Ammayane Sathyam', started off in 1996. It featured Kamal Haasan, Nasser, Ramesh Arvind as the lead actors. The lead actors' are bachelors living under the same roof and they employ a servant. Later, they find out that their servant is not who he seems and harbours a dark past which can endanger their lives. The film was shelved due to creative differences.

  • Ladies Only (1997)

    This Hindi film was produced by Kamal Haasan himself. He starred as a dead terrorist in this film. However, he wasn't the lead actor of this flick. Randhir Kapoor was making a comeback as a lead actor. Although the production of the film was completed on schedule, the film didn't hit the box office due to reasons known only to the moviemakers.

  • Marudhanayagam

    The film was launched by Queen Elizabeth II and the shooting began. However, one of the producers backed out and the filming was indefinitely postponed. Kamal Haasan tried to revive the film multiple times. However, all of the attempts to revive the film failed.

  • Noteworthy Mention: Vishwaroopam 2

    The sequel to 'Vishwaroopam' is one of the most awaited sequels. The film's shooting has also been completed. It was initially planned to release it in 2015. But, Vishwaroopam 2 is yet to grace the silver screen as the its muddled in the post-production stage. It has also been speculated that the film's producer has run into financial troubles.
