Pan India films are the new fad in the industry, and people often mistake big-budget films for pan India films. But not all films made on a lavish budget and boasts star cast can be termed as pan India films, as these films should have a potential that can cut across regional lines and appeal to the audience all over the nation. For example, Baahubali is a universal story that can appeal to any language audience, but coming to KGF Chapter 1 or Prabhas' Saaho, although they are not universal stories, they flaunt the protagonist as a larger-than-life character and has breathtaking action sequences. And for some reason, commercial potboilers are always a hit formula in the Indian Cinema which made these films mint the moolah.
Why are actors aiming for pan-India stardom?
Any actor who enters the industry comes with the dream to attain stardom. They are bound to experiment and reinvent themselves according to the current trends. And yes, Baahubali has set a benchmark for every industry and for every actor. The superstardom Prabhas is enjoying now has fascinated many other actors to tread the same path. After all, who will not want to get loved by millions of people.
The growth of social media usage is also helping the actors gain familiarity instantly. Dhanush's KolavariD song becoming world famous and Priya Prakash Varrier's wink scene are two best examples.
Tollywood Big Stars And Their Pan India Projects
After Prabhas, four other big stars are getting ready with their pan India Projects.
Ram Charan & Jr NTR With RRR
RRR is a period fantasy drama. Though the film is based on freedom fighters Alluri Seetharamaraju and Komaram Bheem who hail from Teluguland, it is a pan-India story. The other reason for the film to attain an India status is because of SS Rajamouli, who delivered two juggernaut blockbusters with the Baahubali franchise.
Pawan Kalyan With Hari Hara Veera Mallu
Set in Mughal backdrop, this period drama is action-packed where the lead character plays a Robinhood kind of role. The first look motion poster itself gave an illusion that the film is going to be a visual spectacle. But it is still uncertain to predict its success as pan-India films as a similar Bollywood film Thugs Of Hindostan tanked big time at the box office.
Allu Arjun With Pushpa
Allu Arjun is already famous among the North Indians, courtesy of his style statement, which is always the talk of the town. He is aiming at pan-India stardom with Sukumar directorial Pushpa. Although the film does not have a universal story, it falls under the category of films like KGF which shows the protagonist as a larger-than-life hero.
Not just the aforementioned stars, many others like Vijay Deverakonda (with Liger) and few others are aiming for pan-India or at least multilingual appeal except one. And yes, you guessed it right. It is none other than Superstar Mahesh Babu.
Will Mahesh Ever Make Pan India Film?
In terms of craze and fan base, Superstar Mahesh Babu is no less than any pan-India actor. While he can easily get plenty of pan India offers, Mahesh is not quite interested to act in other language films and confined himself to Tollywood. However, he is making his pan India debut as a producer with Adivi Sesh starrer Major. But fans always wait to see him in a pan-India film.
