Among the most loved and successful Tamil actors in Teluguland is Karthi. Despite being the brother of a huge star like Suriya, Karthi created his own path and even did a direct Telugu film before his brother. After the success of Khadi and failure of Donga (Thambi in Tamil), Karthi is coming up with an intriguing subject with Sulthan. Let’s see what’s in store for us if we happen to watch this Bakkiyaraj Kannan directorial.
Karthi’s enigmatic role
As per the director, Sulthan is a reimagining of the Mahabharatha with Lord Krishna siding with the Kauravas instead of Pandavas Pandavas so that he could lead them to redemption instead of destruction. Intriguing subject. Karthi plays the role of a brotherly figure for 100 ruffians and the question mark always remains that if he is good or bad or just plain mischievous. Anyways, he’s got a lot of action sequences and apart from fun, we’ll be witnessing an intensive avatar of him. He described himself as the 100 headed Ravana.
It is the 100 who were first introduced in the trailer and they are compared to rampaging wild elephants. Apart from this, this 100 reminds us of the 100 Kauravas. Though they are projected as bad, it is the fact that they’re commanded by and in the control of Sulthan is interesting. Are they the 100 heads of the Ravan of Karthi?
Plot turning role of Rashmika
Till this point, we have seen Rashmika Mandanna as an urban girl. For the first time, and on her Kollywood debut, we’ll be watching as a village belle. She isn’t the typical loosu ponnu famous in this genre in normal Tamil mass entertainers. She has a substantial and plot-turning role in the film.
Action, comedy, entertainment, intrigue and suspense. All these are highlighted in the trailer. The sound design looks good. The cinematography gives a rugged vibe and sorta like a Western. So, why late, Sulthan seems to be one of the movies to watch this weekend.
