2018 dark comedy thriller, Andhadhun, directed by Sriram Raghava, is a runaway hit in Bollywood. Featuring Ayushmann Khuranna, Radhika Apte, and Tabu in lead roles, Andhadhun received gushing praises from the critics and audience for its breathtaking twists and turns. The film is already available on several OTT platforms like Netflix, JioCinemas, and is watched by millions by now.
Now, with the film getting remade in two Indian languages - Telugu and Tamil, the question that arises is - is it a good idea to remake it in other Indian languages? Certainly no. It is because the main reason behind the film turning a blockbuster is its suspense. Even if they change a bit of the script to suit the nativity, the suspense part will remain intact, and most of us know it well.
The other reason is the casting coup of the remakes. While the Telugu remake casts Nithiin, Nabha Natesh, and Tamannaah to reprise Ayushmann, Radhika, and Tabu respectively, the Tamil remake casts fade out actor Prashanth as the lead.
As known by all, Ayushmann won National Award for this film, and we doubt if Nithiin and Prashanth can match him. But one plus point to the Tamil remake over Telugu is that Prashanth is a trained pianist from the Trinity College of Music, London. Hence, it will be an easy job for him to play a blind pianist as per the script. Also casting Tamannaah for Tabu's role seems not worthy, although she got good acting chops.
However, we are still unaware of the fact whether the makers would stick to the original suspense or will come up with an improvised script. Let's wait and watch.
