Mammootty, the actor needs no introduction when it comes to Malayalam cinema. A career spanning over three decades, the doyen of Malayalam cinema has acted in more than 300 films including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada. He began his acting career in the uncredited 1971 film ‘Anubhavangal Paalichakal’ but ‘Mela’ was his first released film in 1980, directed by K. G. George. In the following year he went on to establish himself as an actor in films like - ‘Sphodanam’, ‘Munnettam’ and ‘Thrishna’, respectively. Since then he hasn’t looked back and has been awarded the National Film Award for Best Actor three times, Kerala State Film Award five times and Filmfare Award eleven times.
