Vaitla To Rajamouli, 8 Libran Directors in Telugu Cinema

This director had delivered one of the biggest hits of Telugu film industry (TFI) in the form of ‘Dookudu.’ The film made Srinu Vaitla enter the top league directors and he became the care of address for new genre comedy. However, Vaitla is currently in not so good form with consecutive disappointments at box office. But we hope the director bounces back with Mega hero Varun Tej’s ‘Mister.'

This maverick director is known for his one-liner punch dialogues. Unlike the other directors who make only one film a year, Puri handles multiple projects at a time and his pace of delivering films with quality content is just superb. ‘Pokiri’ and ‘Temper’ are some of his works which gave big boost to respective heroes in their career. Puri is at present busy with ‘ISM’ which will have Nandamuri Kalyan Ram in the lead role. The first teaser of the film has garnered an outstanding response and massive expectations are there from the movie.

He is the unusual new age director. Having made his debut with ‘Swamy Ra Ra’, Sudheer Varma proved he is here to stay for long. Though his second attempt was a flop, Sudheer hit back at the critics and it reminded us of our controversial director Ram Gopal Varma. Not shying away, Sudheer bluntly said he would copy any content that he likes and would present it to the Telugu audience. Well, that’s gutsy.

Maruthi made a stunning entry into the industry. With consecutive hits, Maruthi became a brand ambassador for success. Initially he was reckoned as an adult content filmmaker, but with films like ‘Prema Katha Chitram’ and ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoi,’ Maruthi shred the image off and with ‘Babu Bangaram’ he established an image for himself among the family audience.

He is the ‘pakka’ commercial director. Massive chase sequences and out and out comedies are Vinayak’s trademark. After launching the young Akkineni scion, Vinayak is now handling Megastar Chiranjeevi’s comeback 150th film ‘Khaidi No 150.’ With mammoth expectations, the film will be hitting the screens for Sankranthi 2017. Vinayak knows the pulse of Mega fans and no doubts he would deliver the right re-entry of Megastar.

A name that needs no introduction, Rajamouli took Telugu film industry to a whole new level where no maker could have achieved it ever. Known as a tough task maker and Mr. Perfectionist, Rajamouli is currently busy with the second part of ‘Baahubali.’ It would be very interesting to know Rajamouli’s next post ‘Baahubali.’

With just four films, Vamshi Paidipally made it to the top league of directors. His last outing ‘Oopiri’ got rave reviews and was highly appreciated by the critics as well, despite being a remake. Well it is not easy to handle a remake, Vamshi was successful in doing it. Post ‘Oopiri’ Vamshi will be working with superstar Mahesh Babu and decent expectations are on the movie.

While commercial directors are dominating, Vijay Kumar Konda’s romance did not fail to impress the audience. At the same time, Vijay’s films are the quite sensible unlike the stereotype romantic flicks. Nevertheless the director is short of opportunities but hope, he would soon come with up yet another scintillating romantic entertainer. His two films are ‘Gunde Jaari Gallanthayinde’ and ‘Oka Laila Kosam.’

Moving from directors, we have a good number of Libran actresses too. Manchu Lakshmi, Rakul Preet Singh, Sneha, Pooja Hegde, Niveda Thomas and Pranitha Subhash are all Librans too while their date of births are October 8, Oct 10, Oct 12, Oct 13, Oct 15 and October 17th respectively. Rakul is currently the Tollywood queen with big films under her belt. Actress Pooja Hegde is making a comeback into Telugu with ‘DJ – Duvvada Jagannadham’ opposite Allu Arjun and Niveda Thomas made a spectacular debut with ‘Gentleman.’ These young ladies are going to rule the Telugu industry for the next few years.

Allu Ramalingaiah belongs to the first generation comedians in Telugu Cinema. He was born on October 1st and featured in over 1000 films to his credits. Now his grandsons Allu Arjun and Allu Sirish are quite popular and have their own identity. The other Libra comedian is Ali. Born on October 11, Ali is still carrying his charm and in spite of the new age comedians dominating, Ali has his own niche among the Telugu audience.
