Recently, just recently we have seen that the television giant Eenadu Television (ETV) nearly took serious action on a local channel which telecasted the blockbuster Uma Maheshwara Ugra Roopasya starring Satya Dev and Roopa Koduvayur. The Venkatesh Maha directorial produced by Vijaya Praveena Paruchuri received rave reviews even when compared to the original Malayalam film Maheshinte Pratheekaram. It's been a long time since ETV has optioned the satellite rights of a new movie and obviously they got serious.
Even before we forgot this incident, another local channel dared to telecast a big film like Natural Star Nani's V. The satellite rights of the movie were captured by Gemini Television for a whopping amount. Now, giving shock (but not unsurprisingly) to the said channel, Gemini TV slapped them with a court notice to pay a fine to the amount of Rs. 2 Cr. This may appear like a severe action but at a time where the entire film and entertainment industry is going through crisis wrong actions like this should not be spared. Well done Gemini!
