It’s a wrap for the year 2017 and its time to look back at the eventful year which was mired in a few controversies, comebacks, setbacks and a lot of many positives. The year 2017 saw over 250 movies release of which only a handful films were applauded by the audiences. Some big movies failed at the box-office while some small movies made it big at the box-office which also went on to become sleeper hits of the year. Movies which were liked in 2017 went on to become the most searched movies on Google. Google Trends 2017 list of movies are out and as expected a few films were no surprises but a few did leave us amazed. Find out below the top 10 movies of 2017 that trended the most on Google.

  1. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (28 April)

    S.S. Rajamouli’s all-time blockbuster magnum opus Baahubali 2: The Conclusion went on to become Google’s most searched movie in 2017. The sequel not only smashed all existing box-office records but became a trendsetter of sorts where advance booking lasted for more than a month. The magnum opus occupies the numero uno position on Google trends 2017.

  2. Raees (25 January)

    Finally, Shah Rukh Khan heaved a sigh of relief after his Raees released in theaters in the beginning of the year. Though it clashed with Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil, it was Raees that had the last laugh. Raees could be considered a comeback of sorts for King Khan as his earlier two releases had performed badly at the box-office. Raees became the first flick of 2017 to enter the 100-Cr club.

  3. Dangal (23 Dec 2016)

    Aamir Khan’s Dangal though released at the fag end of 2016, it continued to be one of the most popular movies of 2017 on Google. After having a great run at the domestic box-office the sports drama released in China this year and raked in big moolah making it one of the biggest global hits in world cinema.

  4. Half Girlfriend (19 May)

    Director Mohit Suri’s Half Girlfriend makes it to the list of most trending movies of 2017. Starring Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, the romantic drama was based on Chetan Bhagat’s best-selling novel of the same name. The film also ended up doing good business at the ticket windows.

  5. Badrinath Ki Dulhania (10 March)

    The sequel to Shashank Khaitan’s Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania with the same cast, this rom-com was a winner from day one. Badrinath Ki Dulhania released during Holi saw audiences flocking to the theaters. The storyline and theme, in particular, helped this Varun Dhawan - Alia Bhatt starrer to rake in more than 100 Cr at the box-office.

  6. Munna Michael (21 July)

    Though this action-musical drama had all the ingredients of a hit but failed to live up to the audience’s expectations. It was Tiger Shroff’s breathtaking dance moves and action sequences that created a buzz among the youngsters. Munna Michael trended like any other biggie but a weak screenplay and direction let down the film.

    Director F Gary Gray’s ‘The Fate Of The Furious’ starring Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris, carried forward the legacy of the franchise. The action flick trended big time for it had a worldwide release including other Indian language dubbed versions.

  10. Raabta (9 June)

    Producer Dinesh Vijan turned director with this reincarnation flick which starred Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon in the lead. Though people had lots of expectation from Raabta but somehow the romantic drama ran out of steam as the leads on-screen chemistry failed to work despite being in the news for their off-screen affair.

    The first big release of the year, Ok Jaanu was the Hindi remake of Mani Ratnam’s successful Tamil flick O Kadhal Kanmani. Directed by Shaad Ali, the romantic drama starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor which talked about live-in relationship failed to get the cash registers ringing. The Humma Humma remix song was the only reason for the movie to trend.
