6 Guinness Book Records of Telugu Cinema That Will Make You Proud

Popularly known as Tollywood, Telugu cinema has evolved as one of the most prolific and commercially consistent film producing centers of Indian cinema. When it comes to records, the Telugu film industry has garnered many ‘first’s’ to its name, be it the most produced films by a producer or the most directed films by a director, to name a few. The bigwigs of Telugu film industry time and again get felicitated for their achievements for their outstanding contribution to the world of Cinema. Here is a quick list of some of the names who have made it to the Guinness Book of World records.

  1. Singer P Susheela - For The Highest Number Of Songs (2016)

    ‘Gaana Kokila’ P Susheela marked her name in the Guinness Book of World Records for recording 17,695 solo, duet and chorus backed songs in six Indian languages since she made her debut as playback singer in 1952. Interestingly, Susheela had crooned 1,336 duet songs with Legendary singer SP Balasubramnayam which is another record.

  2. Brahmanandam - Holds A Record With Most Screen Credits (2010)

    Brahmanandam Kanneganti was born on 1st February, 1956 at Sattenapalli in Andhra Pradesh. Comedy and Brahmanandam are synonymous in Telugu films, there's hardly a film without him tickling the viewer's funny bone. His innumerable appearances has earned him a 'Padmashri', a place in the Guinness Book, many national and regional awards and still counting.

  3. Dr D Ramanaidu - For The Most Films Produced By An Individual (2008)

    Suresh Productions that was founded by Dr. D Ramanaidu is one of India's largest integrated production powerhouses based in Telangana - consisting of producers, distributors, exhibitors, actors, digital post facilities and much more. Headed and founded by Late Dr. D. Ramanaidu who spearheaded the production house single-handedly before his son Suresh Babu took over the reins. Ramanaidu hold the Guinness Record for most films produced by an individual. He produced over 150 films in 13 Indian Languages.

  4. Dr. Ghazal Srinivas - For Singing 100 Songs In 100 Languages (2008)

    Ghazal Srinivas, the ghazal exponent was born on 14 October 1966 and hails from Palakol, West Godavari District, in Andhra Pradesh. He has mastered the art of singing Telugu ghazals in his own style which makes him an extraordinary talent. Nearly three decades of ghazal singing in innumerable languages has found his name endorsed in the World Book of Guinness Records. He has occasionally acted and lent his voice to Telugu movies.

Housing some of the biggest sets and shooting locations, it finds itself as the world's biggest film studios declared by the Guinness Book of Records.

  6. S.P. Balasubrahmanyam - For Singing Most Songs In Films (2001)

    Sripathi Panditharadhyula Balasubrahmanyam, or Balu to millions of his fans made his debut as a playback singer in 1966 with the movie 'Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna', a Telugu film scored by his mentor, S. P. Kodandapani. Over the years he has not only recorded nearly 36,000 songs in different languages which made him eligible to enter into the Guinness Book of World Records, but has also produced, composed music, acted and dubbed for several films.
