Tandav Row: Things That You Need To Know

Tandav, the web-series that released on 15th January 2021 on Amazon Prime is facing controversy since day one. The outrage started on social-media as the protesters started to trend #BanTandavNow. Many accused the political drama of hurting their religious sentiment.

Today, the cast and crew of the show have apologized unconditionally. 

Here is everything you need to know about the Tandav row. 

  • Multiple Complaint lodged Against The Show

Two complaints have been filed against the series - one in Lucknow and another in Mumbai. According to the first complaint, 17 minutes into the first episode, "people dressed up in a very bad manner to represent Hindu gods and goddesses... that hurts religious sentiments". The second one has alleged insults to religious sentiments happens "every time". 

  • UP CM warns the makers

Following the complaints, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath warned those named to "be prepared to pay the price". 

  • Saif Ali Khan's is provided with security

Next, Mumbai Police increase security outside Amazon India's office in the city. They also raise the security of Saif Ali Khan's residence. Manjunath Singe, DCP Zone 8, revealed they took the decision after the protest marches led by BJP MLA Ram Kadam took place. 

  • BJP leaders are enraged

Ram Kadam was the same person to target Saif Ali Khan in his tweet: "Saif Ali Khan is once again part of a film or series that has (hurt) Hindu sentiments".

BJP leader Kapil Mishra said, "... web series available online spreading massive hate against our dharma and our Gods making hero out of terrorists..." 

  • Leaders of opposition criticizes BJP leaders

Oppositions criticize BJP. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said "tandav (Shiva's dance of destruction) on 'Tandav'" to deflect attention from the farmers' protest. 

Tandav team has apologized for hurting people's sentiment.
