Tamil Actors Who Breathed Their Last in 2016

Kumarimuthu was a prominent figure in Tamil Cinema. He was a talented man who rode two boats: films & politics. After acting in numerous flicks, the actor made a mark with his comical laughter which was unique to him. In 2016, due to age-related illness, the actor demised at the age of 77 on February 28.

Kalabhavan Mani was truly a South Indian actor who acted in Malayalam, Tamil & Telugu movies. Coming to Tamil, Mani acted in a number of films & became a familiar face in Kollywood. Be it a negative or a positive character, Mani made his presence felt. He left the world for a better place on March 6.

Sai Prashanth's is a rather sad one. Aged 30, the actor committed suicide by consuming toxic substances. After much ado, the police pointed at loneliness & depression as the probable causes for the drastic step. His last on-screen appearance was in 'Saagasam'. His body was discovered on March 13.

Anand was a man who gave Kollywood many successful hits. As a director, he handled a handful of films & even acted in some. The actor suffered a cardiac arrest & breathed his last on June 3. He lived for 62 years.

Known for her raunchy performances, Jyothi Lakshmi was prominent in South India film industries. The actress, who was last seen in the 2016 flick 'Kavalai Vendam', passed away at the age of 67 in Chennai due to cancer on August 8.

Sabarna, who also went by the name 'Suguna', was famous for her negative roles in soap operas. She also acted in some big budgeted flicks such as 'Poojai'. Probably due to depression & financial problems, the actress slashed her arteries & bled to death. The sad part is that her demise was noticed three days after she died i.e. on November 12.

The actress turned politician was nothing short of a success story. After enduring a lot of pain, Jaya rose to power & became the Chief Minister. After battling an unknown ailment, the CM breathed her last on December 5. Her death caused a lot of grief & disturbed the state's political ecosystem. She was succeeded by Paneer Selvam.

Eminent figure, Cho, was a multi-faceted man who penned screenplays, directed & acted in movies. Apart from films, Ramaswamy was active on the political side & often commented on the political scenarios. On December 7, aged 82, Cho passed away due to a heart ailment.
