After scoring 8 back to back successes, Natural Star Nani has experienced an unexpected setback with Krishnarjuna Yuddham. But he recovered well with Jersey for which he received rave reviews with a majority of critics terming his performance as reinvention of Nani. While Gang Leader performed decently (average at box office), and V superbly for producers (a blockbuster), the negative reviews it received made all his fans pin their hopes on his next - Shyam Singha Roy.
The Taxiwala fame Rahul Sankrityan directorial also (expectedly) starring Sai Pallavi is a pan-India film in a way. But the budget of the movie was always in gossip circles with several sources proclaiming the producers Sithara Entertainments are not willing to go beyond Nani’s general market level (25-30 Cr. in theatrical business). But Nani isn’t compromising despite arguments from the makers that it’s tough to spend lavishly during the pandemic times.
Talk is that Sithara Entertainments left the project and Venkat Boinapally took over it. From the point of view of the makers: we have already seen similar projects which went beyond general market value failing. The prime examples being Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy and Nishabdam. But if we buy into Nani’s argument, if the subject has potential it may explode at the box office like KGF did and become a national phenomenon.
Nani too has been well versed with filmmaking and the budgetary issues given that he himself is a producer. Let’s wait and see whose decision will be proved correct.
