The sizzling actress, who started her journey with critically acclaimed film Ranjana Ami Ar Ashbona has worked with noted filmmakers like Anjan Dutta, Pratim D Gupta, Arindam Sil, Kaushik Ganguly, Srijit Mukherjee, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, and Mainak Bhowmik. Soon, she will be seen in much-awaited historical adventure film Alinagarer Golokdhadha - a treasure hunt story where she plays a pivotal role. In an exclusive interview with Pycker, Parno poured her heart out and revealed unknown stories about her upcoming film.
You have always chosen character-driven roles. What made you sign Alinagarer Golokdhadha?
I said no to adventure films because women usually don't have to do much in these films. But I genuinely liked the script of Alinagarer Golokdhadha. It’s not an adaptation it is an original script. It is very well researched. The film focuses on some aspects of Bengal’s history which are not known to many. The film is very interestingly plotted. I wanted to be a part of the venture. Plus, I wanted to work with Sayantan. I have always enjoyed working with the new talents. Sayantan is only one film old and the kind of vibe you get from a person is vital. He knew what he wanted.
Did you enjoy being a part of a historical thriller? How did it feel to shoot in the historical places of Bengal?
In the film, my character is not interested in History. But, I am personally interested in History. So, shooting in the historical places of Murshidabad was fascinating. I haven’t visited most of these places before. Some were totally unknown to me. I have read about them in the books only. Even in Kolkata, we shot in many places with a historical significance which have changed with time. Solving the riddles with history was an interesting aspect.
Did you solve any riddle in this Golokdhadha?
Not really. Brishti, my character n the movie does not solve any mystery but sometimes she helps Soham (Anirban Bhattacharya) to solve the riddles. She is a friend who drives him around. Anirban's character is serious always solving the mystery. My character actually brings the lighter side of the film.
Tell me something about your look in the film.
In the film, Brishti has a girl-next-door charm. I wanted her to be colorful. She adds color to the story. I have never sported such a vibrant look before in my films. Most of the time, I have played serious characters. I feel my stylists have done a good job to create my look for the film.
Did you enjoy working with director Saynatan Ghoshal?
I loved working with Sayantan. He knows what he is doing. He is passionate about his work. Sayantan wouldn’t talk much on the set but he knows how to do his job without making much noise. He has lots of potentials. I believe, he will do great in future.
You worked with Anirban for the first time. How was the experience?
I have a very bad habit of leg pulling others. I pulled Anirban’s leg throughout the shooting and still doing so. Working with him was a wonderful experience.
