The film industry is an unpredictable world. You never know when fame will strike you and where it will lead you. Once an actor is noticed and offers start pouring in, the whole world around them starts to change. Money is directly proportionate to fame. Actors are one of the highest paid professionals. There have been instances where celebs, in spite of gaining immense fame and popularity, have lost almost everything in terms of money. Here are those celebs who met financially bitter ends.

  1. Raja Babu

    Without doubt, Raja Babu was one of the best comedians Telugu cinema ever had. Apart from being a great actor and a producer, Raja Babu was a great human being. He never missed any opportunity to help the needy. And it was because of this sympathy, he had bitter friction with his wife which eventually ended up him losing money, getting addicted to alcohol and he finally succumbed to cancer.

    Savitri is synonymous with beauty. She was the only female superstar back in those times. Mahanati Savitri as she is famously known went on to become one of the finest actresses ever in Telugu Cinema. She later married Gemini Ganesan with whom she had two kids. Once her career mellowed down, with a disturbed marital relationship, she became an alcoholic and eventually started to lose everything. She finally succumbed to cancer and died penny-less.

Unfortunately, in his last days, he had no one to take care of him. He even had no money to get proper medication. It was SV Krishna Reddy and Dasari Narayana Rao, who helped him in his last stages.

    Another comedian from the yesteryears, Padmanabham was known for his comic expressions and dialogue delivery. He is the person who introduced SP Balasubramanyam to Telugu industry was also a skillful director. He even won a Nandi Award for Kathanayika Molla as Best Director. In his final years, he had to live in poverty and the days were even bitter with no one taking care of him.

    During the 70s, Kanchana was one of the actresses who ruled the roost. She had her share of fame and success. But, not many of us know her economic scenario with her family. She was raised like a golden goose by her parents, who finally snatched all her property taking advantage of her blind belief in them. She had to live in a small cottage in the outskirts of Bangalore and is in no connection with the world. After a long legal battle, she won and regained her wealth. Kanchana along with her Sister Girija donated their property in Chennai worth then around Rs. 150 million to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on 25 October 2010.

Starting his career in the 90s, Shastri tickled the funny bones just with his appearance. In 2006, Shastri suffered heart problems and breathed his last in his native place, Tadepalligudem, Andhra Pradesh. His family didn’t have money to even perform his final rituals. Their family even appealed to the Film industry and AP Govt. to help them financially.
