Javed Akhtar needs no introduction when it comes to scripting Bollywood films or songs. The veteran scriptwriter turned lyricist enjoys bagging all the literary awards in all categories consistently. The last of the writer Mughal’s who has churned out some of the biggest blockbusters scripts of all times with Salim Khan in the 70’s and 80’s. After turning lyricist with ‘Dekha Ek Khwaab Toh…’ for Yash Chopra’s classic ‘Silsila’ in 1981, he never looked back. Since then the wordsmith has penned a number of gems which have become the soul of many compositions that continue to remain evergreen till date. Over the years, he has won the Filmfare Award fourteen times - seven times for Best Script, and seven times for Best Lyrics. He has won the National Award five times for Best Lyrics. The lyrics of 'Sandese Aate Hain' from 'Border', 'Panchchi Nadiya' from 'Refugee' and 'Radha Kaise Naa Jale' from 'Lagaan' got him the National as well as Filmfare Award that year.
