Indian actors are known for their death defying stunts. Despite sustaining injuries, they keep performing these stunts to appease the audiences. Some of them have contributed to a new chapter in Indian Cinema by portraying superhuman roles. These actors, who are few in number, fought super villains wearing tights. Time and again, Indian actors have donned a cape and soared the skies like an eagle. Here is the list of actors who portrayed superhuman roles in Indian Cinema:

  1. A Flying Jatt (2016)

This is the first Indian superhero film which has a Punjabi Jatt portraying the superhero. Like any other superhero movie, once a meek gains superpowers fights evil and saves the world. Starring Tiger Shroff, A Flying Jatt couldn't do wonders at the box office. The film was a huge disaster and even critics called the film amateur.

  2. Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (2018)

Bhavesh Joshi Superhero is a self-made hero who is sick of the system and wants to avenge his friend's murder. A masked vigilante goes rogue to expose the corrupt politicians. The story-line was good but the movie failed at the box office because of Zero promotions, however, a self-made Indian hero portrayal of Harshvardhan Kapoor was hugely praised.

  3. Paidi Jairaj in Return of Mr. Superman (1960)

This Dada Phalke awardee was first the actor to portray a superhero. The role he portrayed is none other than Superman in Return of Mr. Superman. The movie focussed upon origins of Superman which bore many similarities to the Richard Donner directorial Superman. The movie released to a poor reception.

  4. Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao in Superman (1980)

Renowned Telugu actor NTR portrayed many mythological characters. In 1980, he broke the trend by portraying a comic book hero who was none other than Superman. Unlike Paid Jairaj’s Superman, NTR is bestowed with superhuman strength by Lord Hanuman. In this movie, which is also titled Superman, he uses these powers to avenge his father’s death. It is worth observing NTR’s Superman doesn’t bear a lot of resemblance to Richard Donner directorial Superman.

  5. Puneet Issar in Superman (1987)

Puneet Issar, who is known for his physique, portrayed the titular role in Superman. This Superman has the strength to stop a jumbo jet. He also has the ability to create food. Other than these, he can teleport things. Despite all these capabilities, he identifies himself as a man with a strong resolve. Excepting the costume and the hair curl, there aren’t many striking resemblances to the Christopher Reeve Superman.

  6. Anil Kapoor in Mr. India (1987)

In Mr. India, Anil Kapoor portrayed the first superhero who is nothing like Superman. Anil Kapoor is an ordinary man who comes by a wearable device which can cloak him in invisibility. He uses this ability to fight Mogambo (Amrish Puri) who is hell-bent on destroying India. How he saves the entire subcontinent from this evil mastermind forms the crux of this movie.

  8. Tusshar Kapoor in Gayab / Mayam (2004)

Tusshar Kapoor portrayed a superhero who is invisible to the world. Unlike Mr. India, this Ram Gopal Varma superhero doesn’t a wearable device to become invisible. Vishnu (Tusshar Kapoor) is granted a wish by the celestial deities when he angrily asks them to make him invisible. Unlike Mr. India, Vishnu misuses his invisibility and creates havoc. His super power becomes a headache to every character of the movie. The movie failed at the box office

  9. Hrithik Roshan in Krrish, Krrish 3 (2006)

Hrithik Roshan is Krrish, a superhuman who can soar the skies and break through walls. His mentally challenged father was bestowed with brilliance by an alien. The father passed off some of that superhuman abilities to his son. The son assumes the moniker Krrish and uses his superpowers to save people from weirdoes. He was last seen in Krrish 3. The character might be continued in Krrish 4.

  10. Shah Rukh Khan as G.One in Ra.One (2011)

In Ra. One, Shahrukh Khan portrays G. One, who is a strong virtual superhero. He is transported into the real world to battle Ra. One, an evil digital character, who is also in real world. His mission is to save a kid who starts an intercontinental war with Ra. One. Anyway, judging from the commercial success of this movie, the movie must have impressed the target audiences who were kids.
