The scrapping of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 currency notes was a sudden and bold decision. Narendra Modi, the incumbent Prime Minister of India, announced this order very calmly although he knew how powerful this move was. In the RBI's official statement, it says that the decision to scrap the concerned currency notes was taken to control the circulation of fake currency. However, every individual with an average I.Q. figured it out that the move was aimed at bringing down the rise of black money. The move has been greeted very warmly by most Indians.
