Famous Bollywood Celebrities Who Got Hitched In 2016

Veteran actor Kabir Bedi surprised everyone on his 70th birthday celebrations by announcing his fourth marriage to 42-year-old, Parveen Dosanj. The couple got married at Alibag in the presence of his close family and friends. The actor was previously married to late Odissi dancer Protima Gauri Bedi, British fashion designer Susan Humphreys and thirdly to TV presenter Nikki Bedi.

It was Asin’s marriage to Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma on January 19 that set the tone for 2016 celebrity marriages. Asin who made her debut with Aamir Khan’s ‘Ghajini’ in 2008, had a Christian wedding ceremony followed by Hindu rituals at a place near Delhi. The couple tied the knot in a private ceremony which was attended by close family and friends. 

Lesser known Bollywood actress Sanaya Irani who was seen as Kajol's friend in ‘Fanaa’ joins the list of celebrity weddings of 2016. More famous for her small screen appearances, Sanaya took wedding vows with TV actor Mohit Sehgal in Goa on January 25. The couple appeared together in the TV serial ‘ Miley Jab Hum Tum’, she subsequently appeared in ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?’, ‘Chhanchhan’ and ‘Rangrasiya’.

Small time supporting actor and Bigg Boss season 1 contestant Bobby Darling too makes it to the list of Bollywood celebrities who got married in 2016. Bobby (43) married her boyfriend, Ramneek Sharma (28), a Bhopal-based businessman in a private ceremony in Bhopal on February 11. Bobby, who underwent a sex change apparently, changed her name to Pakhi post-marriage.

Son of Raj Babbar and Nadira Babbar, actor Aarya Babbar too got hitched in 2016 when he tied the nuptial knot with his longtime girlfriend Jasmine Puri on February 22. Aarya, who made his Bollywood screen debut in Raj Kanwar’s ‘Ab Ke Baras’ in 2002 met Jasmine at work who works for a production house. The both got married according to Sikh traditions in a Gurudwara.

After lots of speculation actress, Preity Zinta finally tied the knot with her US-based fiancé Gene Goodenough in Los Angeles on 29th February, 2016. Though the wedding was kept under wraps, according to inside sources it was a hush-hush affair. But all was forgiven when the ‘Soldier’ actress threw a grand reception party for all her B-town friends back at Mumbai.

The ‘Rangeela’ actress, Urmila Matondkar finally got married to Kashmir-based businessman Mohsin Akhtar Mir on March 3 after a two-year courtship. The wedding ceremony which took place at her residence in Mumbai was a quiet one, unlike most Bollywood weddings. Mir who has been a model is 10 years younger to Urmila and has done small roles in ‘A Man’s World’ and Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Luck by Chance’.

Popular playback singer Akriti Kakkar walked the aisle with Delhi boy, director Chirag Arora on 5 March 2016. Though brought up in Delhi, the couple is settled in Mumbai. Akriti is famous for singing some hit songs like 'Saturday Saturday' (Humpty Sharma ki Dulhaniya, 2014) and 'Iski Uski' (2 States), etc.

Shubhi Mehta who played a small role of a hockey player in Shahrukh Khan’s sports drama ‘Chak De! India’ too tied the knot with Gurgaon-based educator Apoorv Bajpai. The couple dated each other for nearly two years before deciding to take the plunge. The entire ‘Chak De’ team had attended her wedding sans SRK.

One of the most talked about Bollywood actor marriages which took place in 2016 was that of Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover who got hitched on the 30th of April.The two met on the sets of ‘Alone’ movie and grew closer to each other. The wedding was performed according to Punjabi as well as Bengali rituals. It was Karan’s third time but a first for Bipasha after a few breakups.

Amrita Rao made her Bollywood screen debut opposite Aarya Babbar in ‘Ab Ke Baras’ and went on to star in films like ‘Ishq Vishk’, ‘Jolly LLB’ and ‘Main Hoon Na’ tied the knot with radio jockey Anmol on May 15 after seven years of courtship. The actress has taken to TV serial roles since her marriage.

Popular Bollywood playback singer Benny Dayal too got hitched in 2016 when he tied the knot with model-actress girlfriend Catherine Thangam. Benny shot to fame with the hit number "Pappu Can’t Dance” from Imran Khan’s ‘Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na’ had also crooned ‘Badtameez Dil’ from ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, ‘Tu Meri Dost Hai’, ‘Kaise Mujhe’, ‘Tarkeebein’, ‘Daaru Desi’ and ‘Bang Bang’.

The couple was dating each other for the last two years before they decided to tie the knot. The wedding was not only attended by prominent Bengali film stars but also PM Narendra Modi.

The VIVA girl Neha Bhasin tied the nuptial knot secretly with her four-year-long boyfriend and musician Sameer Uddin on 23rd October in Tuscany in Italy. The singer who recently also sang the superhit number ‘Jag Ghoomeya ’ from ‘Sultan’ had a white wedding and looked stunning in her beautiful gown.
