Directors Introduced By Our Star Heroes Who Made It Big In Tollywood

It is a tough task for any director to make his debut film and it comes as a blessing if he gets a chance to direct a star hero with his first movie itself. And for star heroes, it is like taking extra risk to give chance to a debutante when they have an opportunity to work with established directors. Few of our Tollywood heroes introduced directors who utilized the opportunity and went on to become star directors. Here is a list of such directors and the actors, Take a look!

  1. Prabhas - Vamsi Paidipally, Koratala Siva

    Prabhas introduced two of the most stylish and perfect commercial directors of Telugu cinema with Munna and Mirchi. Though Munna (2007) was not successful at the box-office, Vamsi Paidipally’s capabilities were clearly visible and he went on to direct superstars like NTR, Ram Charan, and Nagarjuna. Coming to Koratala Siva, he gave a blockbuster hit to Prabhas in the form of Mirchi (2013). He is currently one of the top young directors of Telugu Cinema.

  2. Pawan Kalyan - Karunakaran, Puri Jagannadh

    Pawan Kalyan introduced Karunakaran and Puri Jagannadh to Tollywood with Tholi Prema and Badri. Later, both of them made their own mark in the film industry with super hit films. While Karunakaran is known for sensible love stories, Puri Jagannadh is known for hard-hitting dramas. Though Pawan Kalyan was not a big star by then he mostly worked with new directors during the early stages of his career.

  3. NTR – S S Rajamouli, V V Vinayak

    NTR introduced SS Rajamouli, the present No 1 director of India with his film Student No 1. Though he was not a star hero it can be said that the first film of S.S. Rajamouli was with Jr NTR. They both teamed up for two more blockbusters Simhadri and Yamadonga. NTR also introduced one of the best mass directors of Tollywood V V Vinayak with his blockbuster film Aadi. Later, they teamed up for two more films Samba and Adhurs.

  4. Nagarjuna – Ram Gopal Varma

    The birth of India’s one of the most dynamic directors took place when Nagarjuna introduced Ram Gopal Varma with Shiva. The movie was a huge success and many divide the phase of Telugu cinema before and after Shiva, such was the impact of the movie. Ram Gopal Varma became an overnight star with this film and he also directed few classics like KshanaKshanam, Deyyam, Raktha Charitra etc later.

  5. Venkatesh - Jayanth C. Paranjee

    Venkatesh was in the form of his life when he gave chance to a debut director for Preminchukundam Raa. The movie went on to become a super hit and became one of the biggest hits in Venkatesh's career. Later, Jayanth C.Paranji directed many star heroes like Mahesh Babu, Prabhas, Chiranjeevi etc.

  6. Chiranjeevi – Kodi Ramakrishna

    Kodi Ramakrishna made his debut with Intlo RamayyaVeedhilo Krishnayya which had Chiranjeevi and Madhavi in the lead roles. After this film, Kodi Ramakrishna directed few super hits like Srinivasa Kalyanam, Ammoru and emerged as one of the top directors of Tollywood. Kodi Ramakrishna did 6 movies with Chiranjeevi, they teamed for the last time for the former's most ambitious project Anji.

After the success of the film, Harish Shankar directed star heroes like Pawan Kalyan, NTR, and Allu Arjun.
