Ever since Pokiri released, there was a newfound awe for the khaki uniform. And since then, no top league actor has shied away from becoming a silver screen cop. Post-Pokiri, Tollywood has decidedly portrayed our police heroes in a much cooler manner. They are now the cool cops who don't hesitate to sing ordance & always get the gal. But, when the situation demands, they pull the trigger & worry about the consequences later. Right now this is the trend of Tollywood for it has clicked very well with the audiences. Without further ado, let's take a look at those who've excelled as the cool cops of Tollywood.

  1. Mahesh Babu

He might have been a brooding cop in Pokiri. But in Dookudu, he was a cool cop who follows unorthodox & hilarious methods to bring down a gangster. What made Mahesh's character Ajay click in this film is his relatable nature. Hitting on beautiful girls having fun with friends, boldly warning the baddies & happily enjoying the benefits of the job are the things that we would do if we had such an enviable job. Won't we?

  2. Pawan Kalyan

Pawan Kalyan's Gabbar Singh needs no intro. His interrogation techniques in both the films are unbelievably funny. His aggressive character literally laughs in the face of danger & unashamedly makes merry. What is interesting is that even while he is at work, he has fun in one way or another. For instance, his interrogation techniques are hilarious in Gabbar Singh especially in the anthyakshari scene. In Sardaar too, he retains his fun side & displays it when he faces off with Brahmanandam in the hilarious Mexican standoff scene.

  3. NTR Jr

NTR got to become an IPS officer in Baadshah. He not only gets the heroine but indulges himself in all sorts of entertainment while he is undercover. In the name of duty, he kills, dances, gambles, creates confusion, romances, drives supercars and gets the appreciation from his superior for doing all these activities. Sounds fun, right? Well, that is exactly what NTR does in this movie. And one way or another, by having fun, he manages to kill the villain after enjoying as much as he can.

  4. Kalyan Ram

In Pataas, Kalyan Ram shamelessly admits that he became a police officer to exploit its power. He not only makes merry but rakes as much money as possible by encouraging crime. Despite earning the ire of his superiors, he doesn't buckle under pressure & continues having fun. After realizing his mistakes, Kalyan Ram uses his funny methods to the bring to the villain to a stop.

  5. Allu Arjun

Man, the introduction scene of Allu Arjun as a cop in Race Gurram was just awesome. Rides a powerful bike, gets respect & impresses a gal. And he doesn't stop there, without a minute's rest, he disintegrates the villain's properties by literally throwing explosives at the buildings. Comedian Brahmanandam also deserves some credit for he was way cooler as a cop than as a comedian we usually come across in the other movies. The scene where Brahmanandam warns the villain is just mind boggling.

  6. Nara Rohith

Nara Rohith's cop role in Rowdy Fellow is cool in a different manner. He becomes a cop because a police officer ill-treats him. To teach that officer a lesson, he becomes a cop. After donning the uniform, he revamps his police station & arranges recreational activities for the fellow colleagues. What's more is that he rides a Porsche & taunts the villain with his witty dialogues. However, it is the ending scene, which shows how cool he is as a police officer.

  8. Nagarjuna

Nagarjuna should be credited as the one who started this 'cool cop' trend. In Aavida Maa Aavide, Nag steals the show with his romantic nature. Due to complicated reasons, he ends up with two wives & decides to handle things his own way. The real fun when he starts thinking like a criminal & engages in various comical antics to keep both marriages afloat. 9. Ravi Teja

Ravi Teja's romantic angle is what makes him cool. Although he is fiercely dedicated to his job, he takes out time to date his girlfriend Regina. When he assumes another identity, he doesn't lose his fun side & romances Hansika while doing his job. Both these love tracks in director KS Ravindra aka Bobby's Power are so well-directed that the viewer can only wish that their love stories are as good as Ravi Teja's.
