Birthday Boy Abir Chatterjee’s 8 Must Watch Films

Director Arindam Sil's directorial debut was a tribute to Bengal's greatest director Satyajit Ray. 'Aborto' talks about the relentless pursuit of prominence in one's career, and the resulting alienation from loved ones in terms of sensitivity, feeling and emotion while portraying a vortex of emotions, drama and relationships between characters which were influenced by protagonists in various Satyajit Ray's Films.

The film directed by Kamaleswar Mukherjee is inspired from the life and works of Bengali film director Ritwik Ghatak. Besides giving an account of Ghatak's life, the film also depicts the socio-political environment of contemporary West Bengal during the Tebhaga and Naxalite movements.

The film directed by Rajesh Ganguly is written and produced by Neeraj Pandey starring Abir Chatterjee, Jeet, Priyanka Sarkar and Shraddha Das in the lead. It is a story of a common man who has to cope with everyday issues which leave his ego crushed and bruised when he meets an uncommon friend who teaches him to live life without fear.

Chaar is an adaptation of four short stories that explore four different facets of human life. The film stars Saswata Chatterjee, Abir Chatterjee, Koel Mallick, Paran Bandopadhyay in the lead roles, and Sreelekha Mitra, Sudipta Chakraborty, Pijush Ganguly in the supporting cast.

This Bengali love tragedy film by Ranjan Ghosh had Abir Chatterjee portray Abhijit, a mathematics professor at a Calcutta college who meets Debjani (Raima Sen) a cardiologist at the throes of her career. Gradually one thing leads to the other and Abhijit's life slowly crumbles around him even as his obsession for Debjani swells over like a hungry tide on the sands of time. Both fatal, both transient.

The thriller film is based on fictional detective Byomkesh Bakshi, directed by Anjan Dutt. Byomkesh (Abir Chatterjee) has to start investigating for businessman Benimadhab with his sidekick Ajit (Saswata Chatterjee). Then Benimadhab is murdered and the inquest into this gruesome act reveals some dark secrets about Benimadhab's family members.

The Bengali thriller film directed by Sandip Ray is based on the novel of the same name by Satyajit Ray starring Abir Chatterjee and Sourav Das as Feluda and Topse, respectively. Feluda and Topse visit Lucknow, but their vacation takes a thrilling turn when a robbery is attempted of a priceless ring that was supposedly worn by Emperor Aurangzeb and what ensues while trying to solve the mystery of the missing ring.

The thriller film is based on the investigation of the murder of Mitali Ghosh (Swastika Mukherjee) and what follows is a revelation of certain shameful truths that are prevalent in the life of a typical high society person.
