Bhanumathi and Ramakrishna saved the face of Tollywood at a time when OTTs giants were starting to think Tollywood is dumping junk with them as direct releases. Penguin had seen negative talk (it was a success both for makers, actors, and OTT is another matter). Before that half a dozen clearly junk movies hit the small screens without making noise. And Satya Dev’s 47 Days failed instantly. Add to that Krishna and His Leela too failed to recoup what’s invested despite initial hype (mixed to negatively reviewed too).
Came out as a breath of fresh air, the Naveen Chandra and Salony Luthra starrer directed by Srikanth Nagothi deals with the story of two people who are on the wrong side of thirties and their romance. Natural setting, fun and emotional at the same time, for the first time, an OTT release attracted family audience. This led to Uma Maheshwara Ugra Roopasya to be taken more seriously by not just movie enthusiasts. Let’s see how much profits the film brought to the makers and OTT - Aha video.
The film was made on a budget of roughly about Rs. 0.92 Cr. Aha reportedly bought it for Rs. 1.47 Cr. As per our tracking, the movie has completely recovered the expenses of the streaming app. Now, we can say Bhanumathi & Ramakrishna - a big hit for Aha.
Apart from this, the movie satellite rights are grabbed by Zee Telugu for a fancy price of 1.39 Cr. The audio rights are sold for about 5 Lakhs. With virtually nothing spent on publicity and promos, Bhanumathi & Ramakrishna brought the makers a profit of Rs. 1.99 Cr. which is more than double the budget of the movie. Incredible. And well-deserved success. In terms of success for the makers, it’s a blockbuster result. Aha too strikes gold thanks to the hit pair of Bhanumathi-Ramakrishna.
