On the auspicious occasion of Vijaya Dashami, Nata Simha Nandamuri Balakrishna gave us a glimpse of his maiden directorial venture and the previously shelved project - the pouranick film Narthanasala. Exclusively released on Shreya’s ET, the 17 minute short featurette featured archival footage from the original Narthanasala and Balakrishna’s Brihannala from Top Hero. It also took us down the memory lane. Yesteryear top actress Soundarya’s portrayal of Draupadi and Srihari as Bheema made fans have a final look into what we have been missing since their unfortunate and untimely deaths.
As we have previously written, and even Balakrishna recently revealed during the promos of NBK’s Narthanasala, the epic will get remade in near future. Narthanasala could be his 108th film (NBK108).
Balakrishna who is currently associated with the Boyapati Srinu directorial - tentatively titled BB3 - had revealed on his birthday his dream roles and dream films. It’s already well known that Narthanasala is his dream project. Apart from this he’s also interested in doing a sequel to his another 1990s classic, the science fiction film Aditya 369 with the legendary filmmaker Singeetham Srinivasa Rao. As Singeetham is also getting back to the sets with Prabhas-Nag Ashwin movie, we can expect him to come up with Aditya 999 (possible title).
But the current topic that is hotly discussed in the film circles is: Balayya may join hands with Boyapati if BB3 turns successful for a historical action film. The movie tells the story of Gona Ganna Reddy - one of Balakrishna’s dream projects.
So, it seems the Nandamuri patriarch is turning his attention towards his dream projects instead of regular commercial fare. Not that he’s leaving such films anytime soon - he’s also committed to do a film with Puri Jagannadh with whom he did paisa Vasool. So, interesting days ahead for Nandamuri fans and Telugu movie buffs.
