With the sudden and unsuspected announcement of the epic project by Bollywood’s most happening producer Bhushan Kumar, Prabhas has well and truly become the de facto pan-India hero in India. See, what a lineup he has now! Radhe Shyam - an epic period romance film, with Nag Ashwin - a never before seen sci-fi adventure, and now this!

By making Saaho a massive success in north India and a global 400 crore grosser, Prabhas proved his name and fame aren’t short-lived or confined to just Baahubali movies. With today’s announcement of Adipurush, he consolidated his position as the most sought after Indian actor right now. Adipurush will be directed by Om Raut who just delivered a wondrous hit with historical biopic Tanhaji. The film will celebrate the victory of good over the evil. As the announcement poster suggests, it’ll be based on Indian itihaasa Ramayana.

It may be remembered that Mega Producer Allu Aravind announced a couple of years back that he will be producing Ramayana with a budget of 1500 crores. Several names cropped up as the lead and supporting actors including Hrithik Roshan as Rama. Even Ram Charan was supposed to play SriRama. But later he backed down and concentrated on smaller and commercial projects including his own OTT. This should surely have helped this project. But that’s for good.

Here are a few exclusive tidbits about Prabhas’ Adipurush

1. The poster features Lord Hanuman flying towards an Arrow which is aimed at releasing on an evil.
2. The arrow is readied by a man who appears in all senses to be Rama.
3. Om Raut’s direction for Tanhaji received a lot of appreciation. His shot making, visuals, and the usage of colours all are specifically highlighted by the reviewers.
4. His style of filmmaking was compared to Amar Chitra Katha comics. Now, it is heard from our sources that Adipurush will be made in a similarly imaginative visual language.
5. The film will start its shooting in January 2021 and aims a tentative summer 2022 release.
6. Bhushan Kumar says the film will be made as a Hindi-Telugu bilingual with dubbed versions of Indian and international languages be released simultaneously. So, this is Prabhas’ proper Bollywood debut.
7. A big Bollywood star will play the antagonist and several A-listers are expected to play major roles. This is the first time that a Telugu star hero’s Hindi star vehicle starring multiple A-listers of Bollywood.
8. If Nag Ashwin’s film doesn’t start before this, Adipurush will be his 21st film, an important number in Ramayana.
9. Adipurush will be a proper 3D film. So, this could well be termed the first major 3D film in Telugu. 4D versions are also expected to hit the screens.
