Anthology films are quite rare in Tollywood and it is not an easy job to etch an interesting screenplay with multiple storylines. But few of our directors succeeded in making such films with parallel stories and multiple characters. In the recent past, the number of movies in this format is increasing rapidly. The best thing about these type of films is they offer a lot of content than any other regular commercial movie and that is the reason why they are loved more.   1. C/o Kancharapalem

    C/o Kancharapalem made a literal splash among the critic circles and the early viewers. A doctor from the US produced this highly appreciated indie film before the prestigious Suresh Productions took up the project. Those who watched the film called this an immersive cinematic experience and Venkatesh Maha's direction is hailed as one of the best debuts among his contemporaries. The story of the film concerns four different sets of people and how their lives are interconnected apart from their being in Kancharapalem. 

  2. Awe (2018)

    One of the best movies of Telugu cinema in the recent times, Awe, deserves to be on this list for the brilliant screenplay and the unconventional climax. Awe is a multi-genre anthology kind of film which is backed by technical brilliance of Sahi Suresh, Karthik Ghattamaneni and by superb performances from the actors. Everything happens over a night at a 5-star hotel club where the lives of five people from different walks of life meet at a party. One among them brings a costly car named Shamanthakamani and how it plays a part in those 5 individuals' lives forms the crux of the story. The movie that starred Sundeep Kishan, Nara Rohit, Sudheer Babu, Aadi Sai Kumar and Rajendra Prasad is a roller coaster of a ride that has been decently executed by the young director Sriram Adittya.

  4. Manamantha (2016)

    Manamantha is all about lives of 4 different who have 4 different ambitions. Mohanlal, Gautami, Vishwanth and Raina Rao played their parts very well in this thrilling drama and they all converge during the climax. The interesting screenplay and pre-climax are the major highlights of this film. Chandra Sekhar Yeleti’s brilliance was seen in every frame of this film.

  5. Express Raja (2016)

    This film has 3 story lines running in a parallel manner. The director uses interesting screenplay to converge all the storylines at a single point. Sharwanand, Shakalaka Shankar, and Supreeth all of them have different stories and different backdrops but they meet because of a dog.

  6. Chandamama Kathalu (2014)

    Chandamama Kathalu has as many as 8 different storylines. This film won National Award for the best feature film in Telugu which it truly deserved. Praveen Sattaru wrote and directed this beautiful feel good drama which has Manchu Lakshmi, Krishnudu, Kishore, Richa Panai, Naresh, Aamani etc. Few of those characters converge during the climax of the film which is quite emotional.

  8. Bangaaru Kodi Petta (2014)

    Bangaaru Kodipetta is more of a semi anthology film which has three entirely different stories. One story is about Navdeep and Swathi, another one is about two brothers played by Ram – Lakshman and the final one is about an aspiring actor played by Santosh. The director uses gold robbery as the converging point of the film and uses interesting screenplay to do so.

  9. Prema Ishq Kaadal (2013)

    Prema Ishq Kaadal is about three love stories which take place at a café. All the three love stories are entirely different from one another and are set up in different backdrops. Even the characterizations are quite different. The music of the film adds a lot of advantage of the film and with the limited budget and scope cinematography is too good.

    This is one of the most common types of anthology films made in Tollywood. The entire story of the film revolves around a Ganesh idol and its robbery. This Nikhil starrer film has three sub plots and all of the characters in those plots converge during the climax due to few interesting twists.

  11. Journey (2011)

    Journey starring Sharwanand, Jai, Anjali, and Ananya is another feel good movie on the list. The movie has interesting back and forth screenplay and terrific performances from the lead cast. Apart from these two major stories, there are many small plots which are well written. The major highlight of this film is the emotional content and the entertaining screenplay.

    Vedam is probably one of the finest anthology film ever made. The film has 4 different storylines and all of the roles in this film are perfectly written and performed. The film’s climax is where all these characters converge and that climax will leave you in tears. Allu Arjun, Manoj Bajpayee, Anushka Shetty and Manchu Manoj gave their career best performances in this feel good drama.
